The fair has come to town

I have two teens. They’re both good lads overall. They’re telling me all their friends are going to the local fair which has just come to town. I’ve told them I’m not really comfortable with that as socially distancing is maybe a bit challenging at a fair despite it being outside. They’re both fine with that and are not going but they’re worried about school on Monday, as a lot of their friends and peers in their bubbles in school would have mingled at the fair this weekend.

Just wondered what other people’s thoughts are and whether you’d be comfortable with your teens going to the local fair purely from a Covid point of view?

I’m in Brighton and the fair was booted out of town by the council yesterday as advised by Public Health. Maybe they’ve come straight to you? Absolutely would not go, it’s not safe.

The fair turned up to our town and there was an outcry and the council banned it.

Our council have given the go ahead because ‘it’s on private land’. I’m really cross at how irresponsible this is.

Our council has stopped the fair this year too. Can't see how on earth this would be a good.idea.

We are about to have our Mop Fair in mid October. There's absolutely no chance of social distancing as it's held in the streets. The rides take up most of the streets as it is. It's always heaving.

There has been public outrage but it's still going ahead?

This apparently is due to the charter and if it doesn't the charter is lost. During the war it didn't go ahead properly. It was declared open and declared closed 2 days later by the mayor. This satisfies the charter.
