If you did a home test how long did it take to get a result?

DC had a fever and a cough recently so did a home test and posted it off yesterday.

If you have done a home test how long did it take for your result to come back? 119 states it will be at least 72 hours so I would be interested to hear your stories.

Tested DC last Friday and posted off test results same day, result arrived about 11.30pm on Monday. So around 3-4 day turnaround.

Posted off another home test for DC2 today, so expect similar although hoping it will come quicker as we are all going stir crazy now.

Floweryusername · 17/09/2020 22:55

Three days for me, seems to be quicker than the local test centres.

WishIWasSomewhereElse · 17/09/2020 23:03

Posted ours (SE England), on Monday afternoon. Received in Glasgow on Tuesday afternoon. Received my result at 6 am this morning; DD's results came at 12.30 pm today.

bottomdrawer · 18/09/2020 02:32

How did you trace the whereabouts the test @WishIWasSomewhereElse?

@bottomdrawer through the tracking number on the purple box label we sent back. Put that number into RM 24hr tracking and it tells you where the parcel is.

Ours was revived by the sorting office at 8pm Tuesday. Still hasn’t changed to delivered to Glasgow, still no result.

I’m so stressed, DC who is absolutely fine cannot go to nursery until a negative test.

bottomdrawer · 18/09/2020 10:36

Thanks @Phoenix21 I only took a note of the test barcode and not the tracking number so it's a lost cause for us!

I hope you get a result soon, best wishes

You too. Just spent 40mins on Royal Mail for them to tell me it could have been delivered and system not updated, call NHS.

The poor man sounded so fed up. He admitted they’ve been inundated with calls.

I’m calling NHS for an update after loads of options, auto message states they cannot trace where tests are, advised to self isolate then call disconnected.

I booked it at 08:01 on Monday, it arrived at 14:46 on Tuesday. I put it in the priority postbox before last post the same day, it reached Glasgow at 09:16 Wednesday morning. My test result text came through this morning at 10:22. Very relieved as I'd expected it to take a lot longer (I had been trying to get the test since Friday evening, mind!)

plesiosaur · 18/09/2020 12:35

4 days

bottomdrawer · 18/09/2020 12:39

Out of interest, did they send you a text and email the results?

OP posts:

Also, do the labs work weekends too? Just hopeful it won't pause until the next working week as I have a potential amazing week lined up if I get this result back as quickly as possible!

OP posts:
plesiosaur · 18/09/2020 12:57

we got text, no email

wendz86 · 18/09/2020 14:20

3 days from posting for DD and 5 days for me.

FromTheAshes · 18/09/2020 14:29

I get a text for me and my daughter at the same time, and an email for my daughter. Three hours later I got another text for me, and an email for me.

Phoenix21 · 18/09/2020 14:59

56 hours here from sorting office to test result.

Royal Mail tracker still showing as being in the sorting office. Hmm

GertrudeKerfuffle · 18/09/2020 16:47

We sent 3 for our household last Friday. We got the results for two of them on Tuesday evening, then the final one came through Wednesday morning.

Previously to that (a week earlier) we had DC tested at a drive through test unit and the result came through Saturday night so the labs do work weekends, or at least that particular one did.

One more question for those who tested with a home kit, when you registered, did you receive a confirmation email saying that you had registered?

Alas I did not, and am still waiting on a result 5 days later...

Thanks

No confirmation email to say your test has been registered no. Once successfully registered it just says so at the end of the form submission.

1st test I received results in 48 hours

2nd test results came after 72+ hours so quite delayed

Jods90 · 20/09/2020 22:56

Oh and I received both a text and email.

Text first, email an hour or so later.

bottomdrawer · 20/09/2020 23:35

@Jods90 oh that is good as it is what happened with me. No email does not have to mean the registration has disappeared in cyber space. Good. Here's to hoping I get a result on day 5!
