Dido Harding, the one with responsibility for testing is to be grilled by Parliamentary Committee at 2.30pm today. Let’s hope they get some honest, helpful answers rather than excuses and waffle.

Will this be on tv?

Goldistheanswer · 17/09/2020 14:17

I think it’s on Sky news and the BBC Parliament channel ( 231 on Freeview )

Just seen that she’s being questioned at 3.15pm. There are some other people being questioned first, from 2.30pm.

Goldistheanswer · 17/09/2020 15:12

Sky news just announced they’ll be showing it live.

It’s cringe worthy viewing

Just hung sage out to dry there! Sage told them how much to increase capacity by!

Goldistheanswer · 17/09/2020 15:42

She did Humphries didn’t she.

We followed SAGE’s modelling on how much capacity was needed by a September.

People need to be responsible and ‘protect testing capacity’ (!)

what a fucking shitshow. Is there not ONE person in this pandemic who is in any way competent? Hmm

"Her modelling did not predict the surge in demand", REALLY??

Christ, you just could not make this crap up!

knittingaddict · 17/09/2020 16:15

"Her modelling did not predict the surge in demand", REALLY??

She actually said that? Blimey.

mildlymiffed · 17/09/2020 16:17

Love the fact that she's trying to blur the lines between the 24 hour turnaround and next day turnaround. Over 50 hours of waiting now.... I'd say that was a failure.

surroundedbyostriches · 17/09/2020 16:19

i waited 96 hours for my result, as did DH

I wonder if they just didnt realise how many colds adults had been having and families over the last few months.
Those have now been given to classes of 32.
Some of which are likely asymptomatic and given to family etc.
And have to say i never would have opened up soft play.
Anyway it clearly shows schools are not virus secure. More needs to be done.
I actually dont think it is the fault of testing.it rests on whoever deecided
No masks in classrooms
None on teachers
Bubbles of year group rather than class.
Letting classes swap books to take home etc. Idiots! Other viruses live longer on surfaces
