Annoyed with parents not following the rules

My child is gcse year, and is having to self isolate for 2 weeks, missing valuable education because someone she sits next to in school has tested positive. Selfishly, the parents chose to book their child a test, instead of isolating him for 2 weeks when they heard he had been in contact with a friend who had tested positive at a party. They then, even more selfishly, sent their child into school while they waited for the results. The child was not symptomatic, but tested positive. People seem to be under the impression that they can just book a test to see if they have the virus when they have been in close contact with a positive case, and not understanding that they still need to isolate due to the incubation period of the virus. It’s very frustrating.

Yes this is a common misconception and there needs to be a public announcement clarifying.
