Anyone having COVID test booking difficulty in Newcastle? *edited by MNHQ at OP's request*

Newcastle schools only re-opened to all students last week. Wondering how is the coronavirus situation in Newcastle schools? Anyone heard of any suspected symptomatic cases which are unable to book a test? Thank you.

Your thread title suggests there IS an issue? Maybe think before you post something like this, enough people are stressed and worried, no need

The local press is full of it. Those who have secured a test have had to travel to Scotland, many can't get a test at all. I doubt this is different from any other area tbh

Well if students have symptoms they should be at home isolating.

North Tyneside councils have been back two week and a small minority of schools have a case. The worst been Marine Park First who has 6 classes isolating but 3 of them were due to one family.

I'm not sure about Newcastle but you can't get one in Huddersfield.

I live north east. Slots came up for Newcastle this morning but it crashed on me and then they were gone. I've managed to get one for 1.30 in sunderland. South shields was also available but they go very quickly and you have to keep refreshing

I've just listened back to the world at one on radio 4 yesterday. A PH coordinator said that a mobile unit was supposed to be deployed to Gateshead in Saturday but never turned up, 10 people did and had to have their tests rearranged elsewhere.

She said that the additional issue is that there's an older lab standing empty which could be set up to manage capacity if they were given funds to do this.

The biggest issue is that they can't contact trace anyone without those tests.
