Yesterday I took DD to park. There were a group of around 12 local adults and several children having a BBQ on the grass. The police arrived to break them up and they refused to move as they were cooking food and the police allowed them to stay until they finished cooking food.... what's the point in the rest of us following the rules?

Maybe they are “advising” the public for the first few weeks before cracking down? Most likely they didn’t want paper work, cell space and getting the kids put in care to arrest the whole group. Fine them and realise them after a few hours.

They need to be fined. It is getting ridiculous. What is the point in advising them for a few weeks? Why not clamp down in the first place so that hopefully in a few weeks we don't have the 6 person rule!

BBQs are banned in all parks round here, and always were, and people would have been moved on (and fined) immediately, and the BBQ removed by parks officials.

Not sure how Covid enforcement is going, but my understanding is that it'll be the 'friendly chat and disperse' approach, with fines and enforcement only for those who are disinclined to budge.

Lynch mobs I think, are the whole answer.
Hang a few, the rest will soon get into line!
