School child coughing and sore throat

So what would you do, if anything? My son has come home from school. Secondary, new Year 7. Boy next to him in class came in with a very sore throat and cough today. The boy said to my son he had a sore throat and was losing his voice and coughed all through a lesson. What would you do? Should my son speak to a teacher? Should I contact the school? Or do nothing?

I would contact the school.

Did his teacher not notice if he was coughing all day?

Contact the school. If the teacher cannot notice a child constantly coughing in their classroom what else are they missing?

Isnt it more likely that an 11year old is exaggerating than a teacher didn't notice a constantly coughing child?

Contact the school to establish the actual facts before deciding what if anything you need to do

Your right its hard to know what the true picture is from an 11 year old. He said he wasn't coughing all the time apart from Spanish when he was coughing a lot. The thing is I don't really want to say anything as the boys are just becoming friends. Its all really awkward. I just hope the parents are wise enough to know the rules and that the teachers actually say something if they notice someone is unwell.
