Hello,

Managed to book tests this morning as we have all come down with a cough and sore throat and obviously want to make sure it's not Covid, especially as my partner works as a chef and my daughter is in nursery (obviously both off until we get a negative, hopefully)

I was just wondering what will happen with my 3 year old? Will they let me do the test on her?

There was no home kits available.

You can choose to do the test yourself or they do it. They'll ask you which you want, if you choose self administration you park up, do the tests as instructed in the packet, drive to the drop off point and hand them in.

We went with our dc youngest 8 but we had to do the tests on them ourselves no other choice.
You get a stick with a cotton end and put it down your throat then up your nose then put it in the bag
Our dc couldn’t all manage the throat part but you can just do the up the nose bit on kids

I'm really nervous about testing my 3 year old.

Me and my 3 year old were both in hospital for a week in February for pneumonia (we weren't even asked about Covid so it possibly could have been that)
I've never been so poorly in my life and it was absolute hell not being able to see my daughter as we were on different wards.

Ever since I've had terrible anxiety about it happening again.

She only went back to nursery 2 days last week.

We had our 8 year old tested and weren't given a choice. We had to admisinister it and we couldn't get out of the car. There's no way we did it properly because he fought us as he found it really distressing. The whole thing is a farce. They need to be administered properly or there's no point.
