Has anyone waited more than 48 hours for Covid-19 test results?

Just that really. Had a drive through test on Tuesday 4.30pm, now been 52 hours. I rang the helpline and after an hours wait she said keep waiting. Couldn't confirm whether the test had been received by the lab or not.
Has anyone else's test taken longer and not been lost?

Yes, my friend has just waited 8 days.

Wasn’t lost, the lab was just very busy apparently.

I’m in Scotland. At the start of July 7yo DD was tested and we waited for 4 days for the results. It was a postal one so we waited 2 days for the test to get to us in the first place too, so 6 days isolating in total. On day 3 of waiting for the results we were told they might have lost her test, there was no way to check this or find it. We asked if we could get another test then, but they said no because by then she no longer had symptoms. We were also told if they had lost it we would not hear from them and would just need to isolate for two weeks.

DH is a keyworker (firefighter), which we told them on request of the test, but we were later told this makes no difference and keyworker results are not prioritised.

This was at a point when the system was not under any apparent pressure. Worrying.

I wait 4 days.. a friend waited 5 days for theirs

ramesesmaze · 10/09/2020 20:43

Looks like it's not uncommon then! I also posted in AIBU as I thought it might get more traffic, and lots of posters saying the same.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 10/09/2020 21:15

Notwatchingtvtoday · 10/09/2020 21:16

Posted dd back on Friday, she is still waiting

misskatamari · 10/09/2020 21:48

Mine took over 48 hours, I think it was early 50s (had the test Monday at 6.30'and results arrived yesterday late evening). I hope you get your results soon

321Backintheroom · 11/09/2020 08:00

Myself and my son tested yesterday (drive thru) my results came back at 6 am this morning. I am still waiting for my sons . Typically it’s his thats needed for him to resume to school .
He has only been back at school for 2 days and then developed a cough ... we were unable to get a test until yesterday due to availability. So he’s had the whole of this week off 😏

NoraEphronsneck · 11/09/2020 08:06

We had drive- through test on the Tuesday, received one result on Sunday and one on Monday.

Fishlegs · 11/09/2020 08:09

Still waiting here for dd’s test from Wednesday afternoon. I’m supposed to be in work this afternoon, and the kids have been off school all week. It’s so frustrating.

ramesesmaze · 11/09/2020 09:00

All good, they arrived this morning at 6am

So it’s taking more than 48 hours for most. Very frustrating. We had tests yesterday at 10.30... I wonder how long we will wait!!

LittleRen · 12/09/2020 08:19

We got Negative test results at 3am 👍🏻 So 36 hours

Thirtyrock39 · 12/09/2020 09:01

46 hours so far here

hedgehogger1 · 12/09/2020 10:04

I waited 8 days and that was with me chasing it

Itshissister · 06/12/2020 14:45

Is anyone still waiting?

I am on day 4 of not having results!!

Itshissister · 06/12/2020 14:46

Not from september, I might addSmile

Just didn't want to start a new thread.

Itshissister · 06/12/2020 16:34

Surely if I am positive, that's a long time for test and trace to not be contacting people?
