Anyone had a positive test in the past week then?

With the rise in cases, just wondering if anyone had tested positive and how they were feeling? Interested to know if the whole theory about the fact that social distancing and mask wearing will reduce viral load and thus severity

Me. I've always worn a mask, scrupulous about washing hands and hygiene. Sore throat on Sunday last week. Tested Monday. Positive. I'm practically better now, it's been a mild cold for me. None of my family are ill yet.

Weird virus isn't it? The fact that some people get it...yet none of their family do. My 11 year old came down with a mild cough and the exact temp of 37.8 the day lockdown was announced. But his temp was down the following day and his cough only lingered a few days. Neither his stepdad or I got it,not that we know of anyway!

It is. I don't even know why I decided to have a test. I've not had a temperature or loss so smell.

Pleased you are feeling better @Jontysmum

My best friends mam is isolating (nearly finished) after her friend tested positive and she had stayed at her house. Her friend is early 60s,had pnemonia earlier in the year and has suffered blood clots before... Said it has been like a heavy cold. Odd virus indeed.

Jontysmum · 06/09/2020 19:46

Thank you Raggie. Really relieved it's behind me

Two of my friends have. One is asymptomatic, the other had a cold for a few days. Both are fine.

noblegiraffe · 06/09/2020 19:46

Was a sore throat your only symptom, Jonty? Bit worrying if yes as that isn’t one of the symptoms that means you have to isolate.

Can I ask why your other friend tested if she was asymptomatic? Had she come into contact with your other friend?

This is exactly why I try and encourage as many people as possible to do the Zoe Covid app. It’s tracking symptoms and test results so the scientists can continue to evolve the guidance that’s out there.

As I understand it, a sore throat is quite a common symptom, but a sore throat alone, with no temp/cough/loss of taste or smell is not common. That’s why currently there is no advice that test if you have a sore throat only. It’s the same with nausea and diarrhoea I believe.

On the app you log how you’re feeling every day, even if you’re feeling fine. Sometimes if you are feeling unwell but not the core Covid symptoms they will ask you to take a test anyway. By tracking the results for a whole heap of symptoms they have a constantly evolving view of what the true symptoms are.

Yes, sore throat was my only symptom. It wasn't a regular tonsils sore throat though. I couldn't see any red, it was further down. Felt strange. By the time I got the results I felt fine again. Yes I track on Zoe and have done since it began.

Thanks, Jonty, will keep vigilant for weird sore throats then! Glad you got a mild case.
