When you have a test, do you get written confirmation of positive or negative?

Just that really. I work in a school, and I need to be prepared for the small number of student that have always had an excuse not to come to school!

As soon as a student is showing any symptoms, (which appears to include every, single, possible ailment a child gets now!) I need to know that they have actually followed the rules and had a test, before they return.

So, do you get written confirmation of positive and negative results?

Thanks!

Yes. You get a text and an email telling your result.

Flagsfiend · 06/09/2020 09:11

You get an email and text with the results (assuming you filled in both an email address and mobile number when booking). Government guidance is that schools can't ask to see the results though. Also there are only 3 symptoms that need testing for: fever, fought and loss/change in taste/smell.

Thanks Flagsfiend.Smile. I've got a million and one questions going round in my head, since we returned on Wednesday and I haven't even scratched the surface!!

Tomorrow is day one with whole school in. It is not going to be pretty!

Sorry, have you seen the policy in writing about schools not being able to ask for results?

Schools aren't allowed to ask for the proof of results as I understand it

MaureenMLove · 06/09/2020 09:33

No, that's fine and I get it. I'm going to keep looking for that written info though.

Schools aren't allowed to ask for written confirmation thou @MaureenMLove

MaureenMLove · 06/09/2020 09:49

Right, I've got it now! We can't ask and don't need written evidence of negative result.

I will assume, that parents/carers will be diligent enough and care enough about the health of others in the case of a positive result and regardless of the severity of it, will keep their children off school!

I think I've had enough already! Grin

I think this is where track and trace is supposed to kick in - if a positive result is confirmed then the school will be notified but there's no way to prove that someone actually took a test and definitely has a negative result.

Pelleas · 06/09/2020 09:54

They should be contacted by track and trace if the result is positive, so I would imagine schools would be informed via that service.

Pelleas · 06/09/2020 09:56

Just to note that the results can also come back as 'unclear' - if by then you are outside the window for re-testing, the only option is to self-isolate.
