I’m in London and I have been told that my nearest testing Center is Brighton. Is it supposed to be difficult to get a test ? Thank you

Try now. I have heard that more tests get released at 8pm. I don't know how true it is but its worth a shot.

PrivateD00r · 05/09/2020 20:20

Keep trying. You will get one eventually! Have you looked at the option to get one sent to you?

Lochroy · 05/09/2020 20:25

Have you tried calling 119 or just looked online?

Italianmoma1983 · 05/09/2020 20:36

I called and I looked online and I can’t get anything

Hope you feel better soon, OP.

Saphira1308 · 05/09/2020 20:45

Keep trying different times doing the day, it might take few days.

Augustbreeze · 05/09/2020 20:55

Apparently it can take hours to get through to 119... don't know what time it closes, maybe try later?

It's got worse recently it seems

Italianmoma1983 · 05/09/2020 21:19

Still can’t access anything - may try privately I think

Voice0fReason · 05/09/2020 21:27

Can you not do a home test that gets posted?
I found this much more convenient.

MJMG2015 · 05/09/2020 21:29

Bloody hell!
If it's this bad now, we're screwed aren't we!

@Italianmoma1983. I hope you can get one sorted & I hope you're better soon!

Italianmoma1983 · 05/09/2020 21:36

I tried to get a home test but they have no available

I’m in London too and had a test the other day. When I first tried to book I was being directed to Twickenham (I live in south London) and when I tried later I was being offered Gatwick, Chessington World of Adventures... eventually Wales! But I rang up and was told that slots are usually released at 8 or 9 am for that day so I tried at 8 am and there were masses of slots for sites much more local to me. I got tested a few hours later. Might be worth trying in the morning?

FinnyStory · 05/09/2020 21:39

A colleague (school) sent one of our tests (secondary issued with 10 for the use of staff!) off on Tues. She has been told it's currently in Edinburgh (we are SE England) with a huge backlog and if she hasn't heard anything by Monday pm, she should do another test.

StealthPolarBear · 05/09/2020 21:39

Remember all the talk of ramping up testing? It was just bollocks wasn't it.
Climbing down off (and disinfecting) my soapbox now. Get well soon op.

Italianmoma1983 · 05/09/2020 21:42

@drowsy yes I will try again at 8 am ! I’m right near twickenham so I’d like to get there

OP posts:
drowsy · 05/09/2020 21:44

Well when I tried the first time at 6 am there were plenty of slots in Twickenham! You should definitely be able to get something closer to home.

Italianmoma1983 · 05/09/2020 21:45

Thank you Drowsy that’s positive

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 05/09/2020 21:47

Keep trying, it took me a day and a half to get one local to me (not London) but they seem to be updating slots regularly

Bellaphin · 05/09/2020 21:50

This is shit! What an absolute farce.
I'm sure they said schools could only reopen once an adequate track and trace was in place.... there clearly isn't. Not enough is being said about this - hardly any reporting on the lack of testing at all - I have made a complaint to the bbc about it - has enough of things being swept under the carpet.

Tyranttoddler · 05/09/2020 21:51

Nearest test to me is 40 miles away. The previous nearest was 20 miles and has now closed. I don't understand how this is meant to be what's happening. Schools reopening and it is hard to get a test.

StealthPolarBear · 05/09/2020 21:51

They also said the measure would be reviewed every three weeks. As far as I can tell that's not happening. Oh and that the alert levels would be monitored obsessively.

Tyranttoddler · 05/09/2020 21:52

My colleague (teacher) has been off all week as she waited for a test and then the results. She drove 35 miles for a test... Wtf

Theyweretheworstoftimes · 05/09/2020 21:52

Totally normal

My thread from yesterday
