Can I still work whilst waiting for covid result?

Apologies if this is a bit of a silly question but both son and daughter have horrible colds, really runny noses and son had a bit of a temp for one day. I phoned his nursery to say he wasn’t coming for the day and she said because he’d had a temp that he needed covid test before he came back. I’ve ordered one for all of us but does that mean we ended to isolate until the results come back and am I allowed to work? I’m really not sure on the protocol at the moment. I’m completely fine and the only symptoms that anyone has had was the small temp for one day

Yes, you’re in isolation. Can’t physically go to work, can however work from home.

You all have to self isolate. You can work from home but can’t go to work.
Once negative you can all go back to normal unless still symptomatic.

Unfortunately yes. If he has had a temp current rules are all isolate. You are "released" if it's negative or if it's positive 14 days after symptoms first appeared

Isolate sorry, hopefully results will be back quickly. We went to a drive in one and results back in less than 24h, I only missed one hour of work in the end, headed in as soon as negative result back.

Isolate as a household for 14 days or until the one(s) with symptoms get a negative test result.

It does worry me a bit that people have missed these messages. The one about isolating for 7 days (now 10 days) if you have a symptom (cough, fever, loss of taste/smell) or 14 days if you live with someone who does has been around since February/March!
