Great to hear, I hope masks get mandated. Schools need to open but children and staff need to be protected when they do.

Uhoh2020 · 25/08/2020 16:16

My DS high school had already said that although Masks are not compulsory any pupil or teacher can wear one if they want too. I hope they keep this voluntary stance tbh

This is good news if it turns out to be true. I hope this is primary staff as well.

According to Gavin Williamson, on BBC Breakfast this morning, there is no intention to widen mask-wearing in schools beyond those announced for those in secondary schools in areas that are in local lockdown.

Gav the Muppet has the respect of no one. Neither do all the muppets at the DfE.

Well that's already not true because in areas outside lockdown it's now up to heads.

I am sure Slater had help - a few more muppets need to own up and go....

Big Gav The Muppet must be wriggling on that line

It's always been up to heads though? Before the change they said it was unnecessary and not recommended but it wasn't banned. Heads could (and were) encouraging masks. Now it's totally up for interpretation. Heads will probably still make the same decision they had planned to make (or have already made) before the u-turn.

In the school where I work the guidance it's been, 'wear a mask if you'd like to but don't feel you need to' since the first communication mid July.

They’ve u turned again. Boris has said pupils wi t be expected to wear masks.
