How long did it take you to get test results?

Had a Covid test on Sunday at 11am at a drive-through centre, and still waiting for test results. They said it could 'take up to two days' but other people I know seem to have got them much faster - were they just lucky and I'm being impatient? I'm starting to worry a bit that they got lost or similar. I'm 99.9% certain they'll be negative - we did it mostly to appease DS's nursery, I don't even really think we have symptoms that are on the list - but obviously we're totally self-isolating until we get the results so was hoping this might be quite soon...

9 days after testing at a drive thru and chasing results twice Shock
For the whole family..

Ah, some of these replies are not reassuring! It says on the leaflet that we 'will' get results in two days but to ring them if we haven't got them after five days so I'm not sure if there's any point ringing before then? I'm just worried that if they don't turn up we'll have to go for more tests, lose more time... I'm on annual leave and it's (teacher) DH's last week of holiday before going back to school so we were hoping to have a really fun week with DS and I'm worried we'll spend the whole time stuck inside waiting for these results!

Test at Sunday at 11am too, result came through at 9pm.

AriettyHomily · 25/08/2020 14:28

Not helpful sorry - 9pm yesterday!

AriettyHomily · 25/08/2020 14:30

How long has he had symptoms for? If it's more than 5 days you can't retest anyway you just have to follow the isolation guidelines.

Northernsoulgirl45 · 25/08/2020 14:32

About 16 hours

LIZS · 25/08/2020 14:36

He has a (mild, clearly a normal slight cold, but I knew he couldn't go to nursery with it and without a negative test) cough since Sunday (he woke up with it and I booked the test immediately) - so that's a point, I guess if we don't get the test results by Thursday and then they don't come or are inconclusive we're screwed! And we'd all have to self-isolate for the full 14 days, right? DH's school will be thrilled... DS doesn't even have the bloody cough any more, just a snotty nose!

Me and DH took 4 days. DD took 24 hours.

yarncakes · 25/08/2020 15:56

First one was mass testing at work. Never even received the results for that! Second one was at a drive thru, I got it done at 12.30 and received results the next day. The other ones I've had (every week), are home tests at work, so far have taken 4 days to come back. If I were you, I'd try and go to a drive thru or walk in test centre.

Fairybatman · 25/08/2020 15:58

Test on Saturday at 3, results Sunday at 1pm.

I’d ring incase they want to arrange another test before the 5 days runs out.

Ohgoodness34 · 25/08/2020 18:00

I believe that most people do receive their results within 48hrs. I think we were unlucky waiting 9 days.

If you phone to chase, they can’t give you your results over the phone or even see whether or not the results are ready. They just send a request/nudge to your test centre to alert them that you’ve still not received your results.

If for any reason they’ve lost your test or results, they won’t communicate that to you.. you just have to assume that they’ve been lost if you don’t hear anything.
