Has anyone tested negative with cold symptoms?

I'm an allergy sufferer usually but unfortunately I think I've got a cold as this is typical cold symptoms I had always suffered with when DS went nursery and every week he was coming back with a cold and passing it onto me!

My symptoms came on suddenly this morning. I got a blocked nose, very runny and watery when I blow it, constantly sneezing (every time I sniff, it irritates my sinuses and then I get sneezing fit 10x in a row), both eyes are watery and sore and itchy (this stirred me towards allergy but pollen is low, dust mites are under control). Two of my family members are also getting stuffy noses now :( so I got tested as I'm the one who is an essential worker and I'm expecting results back any time now. Has anyone got a neg and turned out it was a stinking cold? I don't have a fever or a cough (touch wood). I can also smell and taste things so I've got absolutely no symptoms on the COVID list. I had a fever and a mild cough couple of months ago and test came back neg then Confused

This is reassuring. I was just agonising over having a stuffy head and irritated throat and the amount of things we have planned the next few days. Just checked temp - normal, no cough, proper taste. So feel a bit less like I should be cancelling everything!

DD had a temp, snot and a cough so all three of us tested only I tested positive. I have none of the classic symptoms-a mild scratchy throat, fatigue and felt weird.
Every time recently I’ve had a cold I’ve tested -ve

Yes, twice this year. Both really bad heavy colds that lasted for ages. The last one left me with a prolonged post viral cough that needed steroids. I got fed up explaining to everyone I did not have covid.

Just getting over a really bad cold and chest.

Still
Got the chest and cough and was convinced I had Covid I felt so rough.

Daily lateral flows and a pcr on day 4 all negative

@AriettyHomily

You don't need to test for your symptoms.
The symptoms list is not necessarily wide enough to include common symptoms of Delta. Why this has never been updated we shall never know Confused

Yep my daughter caught a cold then passed it to me, my mum and other daughter. I have done lfts and a pcr and all negative. Cases of cold and flu are on the up again after being so low.

SandyStarfish · 24/08/2021 09:02

@premiumshoes some local authorities are requesting people test for cold symptoms.

steppemum · 24/08/2021 09:09

we have all had a really awful summer cold. Very nasty throat, runny noses sneezing etc, which all ended with a normal post cold cough.

We all tested negative. (some with lateral flow, and some with pcr)
There are some nasty viruses doing the rounds that aren't covid

@SandyStarfish

some local authorities are requesting people test for cold symptoms.

The thread is a year old. They were not doing so then Hmm

Over the last few weeks, I was a close contact of a positive case. I then went on to get a sore throat, cough, shortness of breath, bad headaches with dizziness, fever on and off, stomach/rib/backache. Had two tests which came back negative. Saw my gp after the second negative who kept asking me 'are you sure its not covid?'. He then said its another virus. Im into my fourth week of it now and every day I have different symptoms - one day it will be the sore throat, the next its in my ribs and back, next day back in my throat again Sad

@AriettyHomily

You don't need to test for your symptoms.
And yet the main symptoms of Covid in vaccinated people are those she's describing... so it would be sensible to test.

The government haven't updated the symptoms for some unknown reason (obviously they don't want to find cases).
