Sense of smell - Perfumes

Hi

Not really sure where to put this so I hope it’s in the right place, it’s sort of COVID but it’s a bit frivolous really.

Has anyone who has had COVID who lost sense of smell and taste noticed that their taste in perfumes has changed?

I don’t want to wear any of my perfumes, I put it down to lockdown and not going out at first but now I’m out and about a bit more they just don’t smell right, not off, just not right.

Has this happened to anyone else? It’s like when your pregnant and somethings just smell wrong, do we think it’ll come back?

Has anyone else noticed similar? I’ve not really seen any long term effects in relation to food, if anything things smell better that they taste.

Just perfumes don’t smell as good as they used to Confused

Yes, I noticed that, back in March. Suddenly my perfume smelt like the carrier not like the perfume. It's come back now, but I think my sense of smell may actually have improved - it's still lousy, but I'm smelling plants that I never knew had a scent, like meadowsweet.

I’m glad it’s come back!

I think your right and my sense of smell might actually have improved... we cooked sausages the other day and all I could smell was fat so I was really put off.

Maybe my perfume dislike is really because I’m smelling the notes more individually and I just don’t like them.

I got overwhelmed with the smell from my birthday roses as well and I don’t normally find shop bought roses smell that much.
