Should I get a test?

I have a cold. It's a bad one, but I'm pretty sure it's just a cold.

My mum has just messaged to say the TV Doc says to get a test if you've got cold symptoms. I'm worried it's a waste of resources.

I have;
Headache
Runny nose
Sore throat
Achey neck and shoulders
Upset stomach (last night)

What was your test result, Baconslaw?

I'm interested too

@TOFO1965

I've read this thread with interest as I have the same symptoms you describe, I am not able to access a test though as 'the service is busy'
The service is busy because people who have colds symptoms are getting tested when they shouldnt be. The symptoms to get a test are very clear. The website asks you if you have one of the main 3 symptoms. If not, you don't get a test. This is just another side effect of making people terrified of the virus, every sniffles or sore throat and they're convinced they've got it.
