How long did it take you to get test results back?

DS has a fever so we have all been tested. The website says 48hours to 5 days but the man at the testing site said 24-72 hours. Obviously would be great to get results back soon as possible. I realise every situation could be different but I am curious as to what the norm is.

If you have been tested, how long did it take for your results to come through?

I had a test 2 weeks ago at a drive through centre, test done at 1.30pm on Wednesday and results back at 3pm on Thursday.

Lalanbaba · 08/08/2020 12:19

We ordered them online and did the test at home.
Posted Friday at 3 pm results Saturday at midday

Triangularbubble · 08/08/2020 12:26

Booked at 4, had drive through test at 5, results at 3 the next day, so 22 hours.

Peasbewithyou · 08/08/2020 12:27

Ooh that sounds promising! I would love to get results back today as I was supposed to be seeing family later but obviously won’t go unless I know it isn’t COVID

The test results also instructed to continue to isolate if you still had fever (and for 48h after fever resolved) even if result was negative. I dare say many people ignore that bit but if your son still has fever he technically shouldn’t be meeting family anyway.

Peasbewithyou · 08/08/2020 12:42

Oh I didn’t know that. Thank you!

DS wasn’t supposed to be coming with me anyway, he was going to bed and I was supposed to be going for garden cocktails with my brother and sister. I obviously won’t take any risks if it could be COVID!

I had to up chasing my results (negative) up after 72 hours. It took 3 different numbers and an hours worth of phoning around. The excuse was they were v.busy Hmm.
Not looking great for the natural increase of testing in Autumn and Winter...

BalancingStick · 08/08/2020 12:54

10 hours. I was told 2-3 days when I had the test so much quicker

MaggieTheFrog · 08/08/2020 12:55

Should have read: "I ended up"

TheClitterati · 08/08/2020 13:11

We were tested at drive thru this week. Results back within 24 hours.

Peasbewithyou · 08/08/2020 13:23

It sounds like I can be mildly optimistic of getting them back by the end of the weekend.

Hope so - and that they are negative!!! 🤞

Less than 24 hours for both DD and I on two separate visits, at a drive through, and a month apart.

TrindleGin · 08/08/2020 15:30

Peasbewithyou · 09/08/2020 08:53

Just in case anyone else is looking for this info - we got our results back overnight, so well within 24 hours!

Glad you got your results so quickly.. We got our results same day... Was very impressed, very little disruption when that fast

Fedup21 · 09/08/2020 08:58

5 days-postal test.

TravellingSpoon · 09/08/2020 08:58

I had a test at a drive in centre on the Monday and got the results back on the Wednesday.

Now we have weekly tests at work on a Tuesday and we normally have the results on Thursday.

britINscotland · 09/08/2020 10:23

I got a test in June as I had a temperature that wasn't going away and feeling tired. Did it just to rule it out really.

Test 1 came back unclear. This was a home test that you got couriered to you and picked up again by the courier.

I ordered another one immediately as it said to, except when it arrived, it said I had to post it back this time in a priority post box.

I still haven't gotten my 2nd test results back.

Phoned them. They said test never arrived. They asked if I still had symptoms. I said no. They said I didn't need to do a 3rd test.

So I have no faith at all in the testing system. I still don't know if I had it or if it was symptoms of something else. I wasn't at work and limited going anywhere but DH was an essential worker. His test came back negative though, no issues there.

We are the odd ones out, clearly - got tested at drive-through centre on Tues and are still waiting Hmm I called to chase yesterday and the poor rep had to send off 4 separate chaser emails for our family. Am a bit cheesed off tbh as we've got holiday camp booked for tomorrow!!

ContessaferJones · 09/08/2020 13:17

Oh, just seen the one before me Grin

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 09/08/2020 13:26
