Has anyone had a negative CV test, then a positive test a few days later?

I started to get flu/virus symptoms 4 days ago. They got worse, so I went for a CV test 2 days ago, which was negative. Today I spoke to my GP who told me to have another test tomorrow, in case it had been too early to detect.

Has anyone else experienced this?

I don't have a cough, but have a high temperature, muscle weakness, aching, tiredness etc.

I haven't experienced a second positive test but I did have your symptoms (minus cough and anosmia, I had a temperature, fatigue, very achy legs, dizziness and just generally felt absolutely dreadful). I got tested on 2nd day of symptoms which came back negative. Got retested again a few days later and again, still negative. By this point the internal fever I had was already gone. So I probably didn't have covid. Hopefully your second test is negative.

I've heard of this. There's often only a very small window (3-5 days) where the tests work and it could be too early, too late or the test was done incorrectly.

It worries me that some people assume they haven't got Covid after one test when they have symptoms. I wish two tests were mandatory for front line workers.

I think the tests are very inconclusive

That's exactly how I'm feeling! Really hoping it's not covid for a whole range of reasons.

I know someone who went down with something very similar to COVID in terms of symptoms and feared the worst, but she tested negative and was fine again within the week.

Colleagues Dad had two negative tests, then a final positive one, died shortly after Sad

Hiya, I've had negative swabs and my antibodies came back very positive.
The swab people admitted that they still don't know the time to swab. There have been too many false negatives. Even if your swab was negative I would carry on self isolating. That was the advice I got from my gp who after seeing the photographs I emailed over of my rashes etc.
