Is there proof that long term side effects from CV are worse than from other viruses?

Just wondering this after speaking to someone who’s apparently not going to send her dc back to school until there’s a vaccination due to her fear of long term problems if her or her dc catch cv.

Have you googled it? Lots of articles

which other viruses? norovirus? yellow fever?

We're only 6 months on do impossible to say what long term might look like.Also the more we learn the better able to identify side effects and what causes them and how long lasting.
We're just at the beginning.

What I mean is are people more likely to have long term issues as a result of cv than if they had any other virus. I have googled it and I know there can be long term complications from any virus, so can’t currently understand the reasoning to prevent your dc going to school because of this. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of course.

You're right - everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But one is not entitled to their own facts. And it's too early in this pandemic to know the facts of long term effects op.

But if someone out there has the answers please stop fannying around on Mumsnet and go write up a scientific paper!

How can anyone know the long-term complications from something that has only been known about for less than a year? The only “evidence” at the moment would be anecdotal at best. Given that many of those worst affected have other underlying health issues it will take years before there can be any certainty of long-term effects.
