Not criticising this thread at all, because I know there's a lot of fear and people need to express that but there might well be vulnerable people reading this who feel hopeless and who need to read something positive too. I know when I'm in a spiral I read these threads (I can't stop myself) and get very very low and have a lot of bleak thoughts.
Anyway -
We are massively upping testing - that is going to help limit spread. The more you can test, the more you can get anyone infected out of circulation quickly
Far fewer people who get the virus seriously are now dying - that's backed up by hard data. We know how to treat people that little bit better. We have more treatment options and that will change with each passing month.
The vaccine trials are coming along really well. People are working really hard to give us options.
So far the rise in cases hasn't corresponded to a rise in deaths - here or in Spain where things have been rising for quite some time. I know that's no guarantee deaths won't rise in the coming weeks but just this minute they aren't and nor are admissions to ITU etc.
There will be an end to all this. Even if winter is tough, there is a life and lots of joy on the other side of this pandemic. No pandemic lasts forever, it really doesn't. Humanity is very tough, really.
