ok, so I live in the US in a state which while not doing great, isn't having a massive surge right now with numbers actually trending down for the past week.
Public schools have made the decision to go online only when the new school year starts next month. However, DD attends a private elementary school which is going back to 5 day a week in person learning as normal. The safety measures in place will be
- everyone wears masks for the entire day. Except when playing outside when the kids can take them off
-no parents allowed on campus. Pick up and drop off will be by car only
-temperature checks for staff and students daily
- no communal lunch like usual, they will stay within their own class group
-special classes like Spanish which would usually require going to a different classroom used by all grades will be taught via zoom in their own classroom
-6 ft of social distancing enforced at all times.
This is a very small school with less than 200 pupils and an average class size of 10-15. They've been running a summer camp with these measures in place without issue. Right now I feel ok with sending DD back under these circumstances and she desperately wants to go. Would anyone not do this?
