Is anyone else still furloughed with no end in sight?

I'm still furloughed with no restart date in sight - my job is related to organising business travel.

With so many sectors now open I wondered whether anyone else was in the same position. It feels like everyone else is going back to work although when I looked at some government data it appeared to say that there were more people furloughed now than ever (although I don't know any of them!!)

On the bright side the house is gradually being re-decorated.Smile

Yes, me. I am a lawyer and have been furloughed since April. Getting fed up now although my kids are on school holidays so at least I don’t have to worry about childcare!

Half our staff are still furloughed and we don't know when they will be coming back. Our end customers are still only working at reduced capacity so our order volume varies much more widely than before and we can't put our staff at risk of travelling into the factory when they may not have any work to do. its getting better but very slowly.

I was in this position until recently. I'm starting back at work on August 3rd. Hang in there, it's shit.

Elle1234 · 23/07/2020 12:28

My OH is, he works at a pool and theres no reopening date as yet....

ChrisChambersNeverMisses · 23/07/2020 12:36

Still furloughed until who knows. Some are heading back into the office from August so feel a bit rubbish (although it does mean childcare over the holidays is covered) The thought of being like this for another couple of months is depressing. Just want to get back to normal (and not be made redundant!)

Me - although I know a few people at my workplace have gone back one day a week each. I work at a company that supplies to pubs/restaurants/bars/hotels so I think it's a case of waiting for things to pick up properly again. It's now summer holidays though so I'd actually prefer not to go back until school starts again in September as it would be a nightmare trying to find childcare. Plus I'm 10 weeks pregnant so appreciating the lie-ins and slower pace of life at the moment! Having said that, I am feeling like I'm not contributing to society by sitting on my arse at home. Is anyone else experiencing furlough guilt?!

AriettyHomily · 23/07/2020 12:47

We've got 400 out of 1500 still on furlough. Unfortunately now we have begun the process of reducing overall employees by 10%.

Forgone90 · 23/07/2020 12:49

We have.been made redundant.... Bastard company has ouldnt even put up the 10/20% to keep us on and the profits have actually been good in other departments of the business :(

MabelMoo23 · 23/07/2020 13:08

Yep still on furlough. Work in events so who knows. I’m just praying for my job to survive at the moment

tired17 · 23/07/2020 13:58

Furlough guilt is definitely a thing for me - part of me feels I should look for another job and the other part feels that would be taking a job from someone who has actually lost their job, obviously my employer wouldn't replace me at the moment if I did leave.

Hopefully those of us still on furlough will have jobs to go back to eventually

Yep, charity sector, not expecting to be called back from furlough, my contract expires in September. Have another job lined up so I’m very lucky really. Feeling a bit useless not working for all these months though.

VicSynix · 23/07/2020 19:40

Me. Part-time support staff at a private school. Still don't know if I'll be back in September. Currently looking for another job because I'm bored.
