AIBU to think we can't all be 'sexy'?

Reading another thread last night the term ‘sexy underwear’ came up and I don’t know why but it reminded me of a shopping trip I went on with a then colleague, now friend, who is about 15 years younger than me. This would probably have been about 20 years ago.

Anyway, she wanted to go into Ann Summers to get some ’sexy underwear’ as she had a date with a man (now her husband) she was becoming close to that evening. She was looking through the racks and asked me what I was going to buy. I laughed and said nothing, and she asked me why not. I said that there was no point (I had been married for several years) as my take on it was that my eyes are too deepset, my nose is too big, my lips are too thin, my breasts wouldn’t fill an egg cup, I had a pot belly (which later turned out to be a football sized ovarian cyst!) and no backside. I said it would be like waking up on Christmas morning to find a beautifully wrapped and beribboned parcel, only to open it and find a pair of socks inside.

She was horrified and said “but every woman is sexy”. I thought this was hilarious as I have never been sexy, will never be so and quite content that I am what I am. She said she thought this was so sad. I said it was reality. By the way, she had/has an amazing figure and was/is still very attractive.

So, are all women sexy or do some of us just have to be content with what we have?

I guess it’s in the eye of the beholder. After three kids I don’t think I’d be qualifying, but my husband thinks I am. Can’t say I love the ‘sexy’ look if by that we mean pouting, hair flicking and posing, but I’m not the target audience!

I think just about anyone can look good in the right type of sexy underwear (to a point - it might be harder if you're 90 years old!) but different styles probably suit different body shapes better. That said, if you're happy not wearing it there's no law that says you have to!

I don't think being/acting sexy or wearing sexy clothes has anything to do with your looks.

Do you know you've posted this in the Coronavirus topic? Grin

Its nice to see normal conversations go on outside of this topic 🤣

Is this an antidote to all the Covid threads that creep into other topics? 😁
