How are you managing with going to the toilet and days out?

OP posts:
Barbie222 · 15/07/2020 11:41

I am still staying local until more open.

Greenbutterlfy566 · 15/07/2020 11:50

Do you go back home for the loo then?

There's a "lockdown loos" app/website which gives details of which toilets are open, if that might help?

I also keep camping toilet bags in my car for peace of mind!

lazylinguist · 15/07/2020 11:54

Tbh even in normal circumstances we almost never use a toilet while out, unless we go to a café or something. Can't remember the last time any of us needed to use a public one. Most of our days out are long walks where there aren't any toilets anyway!

AriettyHomily · 15/07/2020 11:56

Pretty much anywhere we go has toilets open now.

AriettyHomily · 15/07/2020 11:58

That was a bit vague sorry, local town centre toilets are open, went to an English Heritage place a couple of days ago and also nature park and facilities were open.

Not open in the local park but we wouldn't use them there anyway.

If we were going somewhere more rural I wouldn't expect there to be toilets anyway.

Yetiyoga · 15/07/2020 12:00

Use public ones or wild wees if out walking.

Firenight · 15/07/2020 12:32

Where are you going that doesn't have them open?

If its the local park or walk then we aren't out long enough to be an issue. National Trust, nature reserves, zoos etc all fine

I was a bit worried about this as well, I had read that there weren’t many toiltes open and I need to go often. I have a DD but she needs to go less often than myself hahaha.

We had a day out this Monday for the first time, we went to the zoo, park and restaurant and there was no problem, toilets as usual, even the train’s toilet was open (I thought maybe the public transport ones would be closed, but no). I take desinfectant wipes with me to clean anything before and DD has a toilet adaptor as well, wash hands well and sanitiser after. It was a perfect day out. I dindn’t notice any difference to any other day out (pre-lockdown) in terms of toilets to be honest.

Cafe toilets are open now and pubs, they are the only away from home toilets I ever used. Long walks are Jungle wees, no public conveniences required.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 15/07/2020 12:58

We went to the beach and the toilets were open there - I managed to go into the loos and use them without touching a thing - used sanitiser afterwards of course. For my daughter who's 5 though, I didn't want to risk her touching anything/falling down/whatever, so we still had a Potette from years back in the car and she used that. My son weed in a bush!

We went to a well known seafront at the weekend not to sit on the beach but we went to the arcades and had a walk in the sun. Stopped for lunch etc. We needed the toilet before our 45 minute trip home, the toilets we went to were being manned the door was opened for me by a attendant to enter I didn’t need to lock the door, to pull the chain and wash hands you just placed your hands near nothing had to be touched. Pushed the door open with my shoulder slightly and I was out! It was a good experience. Grin

We've based visits early on around our town's one set of toilets that have opened and now most of them have opened - but we're a touristy town and therefore have quite a number of public facilities.

Out and about further afield has only been to NT properties where I know the toilets will be open.

Next week we're off to a rented house, but can only access it at 5pm. I've already gone onto LockdownLoo to have a look and there seems to be plenty of ones open in the town while we wait.

lockdownalli · 15/07/2020 20:39

Where do you live those that don't have loos open?

All the public loos are open in my area (South Coast) and have been for a few weeks.

Elouera · 15/07/2020 20:46

Every larger supermarket I've been in has toilets open. Train station toilets have always been open apparently, although some charge (the ones in London anyway).

JuniLoolaPalooza · 15/07/2020 20:48

Before loos were open I just didn't drink anything all day. Not ideal. The kids we have a potty in the car or nature wees.
Most toilets seem to be open now thank god.
