@MRex Does it say 0 cases for everywhere from yesterday for you? Not sure if it’s just my phone being annoying but every local authority I click on it says 0 new cases for the 7th July...?

MRex · 08/07/2020 09:05

Yes, it seems to be loaded a day behind the country figures. If you need to check if there's been an update (we have to for our area because over half the days in the last 3 weeks we've had no new cases), just check Leicester or Bradford.

The chart should give you a good general idea?

Like New Zealand they are aiming to get rid of it completely. That isn’t the aim here. Given our proximity to Europe and travel and supply chains etc getting rid of it completely is probably far less realistic here- for island nations miles away from anywhere else it is theoretically possible.

(BTW I am fiercely critical of the government about it their handling of it)

Yes I think New Zealand and Australia, also Scotland and Ireland, are aiming to eliminate Covid completely.

Whereas the UK government seem to have given up on that.

As Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer, said recently, he'd be "surprised and delighted" if we weren't still in this situation by next Spring.
