Hello,
Does anyone know if you can now travel from Scotland to England and stay with a member of your family.

I can't see it anywhere as to whether you can or not. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Yep you can as of July 3rd. My dad did exactly this and came to stay the night on Saturday.

Thank you Ibizababyy

I thought we weren’t allowed to meet other families indoors until Friday 10th (hopefully)? Unless you’ve formed a single person bubble, then it should be ok? The 5 mile travel restriction was eased on the 3rd, but not the rules on indoor meet-ups (we’ve not been able to stay with family yet, all in Scotland. Hopefully next week).

In Scotland you can't meet other families indoors until the 10th but in England you can already do this BUT you are still supposed to maintain social distancing unless you are part of a social bubble (aye right!!)

I know people who already have travelled from the central belt (Scotland) to the midlands (England), and stayed overnight. They wanted to see daughter and 8-month old son (last seen at Christmas). Not sure they were supposed to, but they figured since each household had hardly been out during lockdown that the risk was low.

I also know a couple in the central belt (one is a nurse) with very elderly relatives in the far north, including one who was hospitalised, but they have chosen not to travel yet, although one is a nurse and could therefore argue they were assisting with medical needs (admittedly the nurse is rushed off her feet herself at the moment, and doesn't need the stress of two very long journeys as well!).

No. Scotland is on course to eliminate the virus. Please do not put that in jeopardy.

I’m doing the same thing now—visiting family in Yorkshire from Tayside. I decided it was safer to do it now (before more stuff opens up and therefore brings the danger of a resurgence of the virus) than in another month.

We’re not going anywhere, however. We managed to drive down without stopping so no contact in motorway services.
