Melting frozen food from supermarket delivery

The frozen food in my Sainsbury's delivery arrives only a few degrees below freezing. Turns out their vans use only an insulated case and frozen blocks of ice.

I'm tired of getting half-melted frozen food. Do other supermarkets have vans which use real freezers?

I have no idea but my Asda shop always arrives frozen, I assumed all vans are refrigerated. I wouldn’t be happy about this if my delivery included frozen meat, anything else wouldn’t bother me.

Maybe try a different supermarket? I’ve never had this problem before.

Ducksurprise · 07/07/2020 16:47

Tesco definitely has a frozen compartment.

I’ve had difficulties with Asda, every shop my frozen food has been thawed (completely liquid ice cream!) and I have asked for a refund each time. It’s getting ridiculous now! Other supermarkets don’t have many delivery slots available so I’m a bit stuck.

I've never had this problem with Ocado. Beer and wine arrive perfectly chilled as well. Bonus Smile

Neve read this problem with sainsburys, our food always comes frozen. Are all the vans the same?

MrsVMorgan · 08/07/2020 17:11

Never had this problem with Tesco, I often have ice cubes on deliveries which comes fully frozen.

I receive stuff couriered across the country, packed one day, delivered the next, in a polystyrene box with ice blocks, and that arrives frozen. Your frozen stuff shouldn't be melting before arrival even without refrigerated vans.

Ocado seem to always be well frozen. Sometimes cupboard stuff feels distinctly chilled as well.
