Where was it and what was it like?

I went to Colbert, which is a usually busy, informal French place close to central London.
When we arrived there was more than one member of staff on the door standing behind a subtly marked tape line on the floor. We were invited to have our temperature checked before going into the dining room and were shown to our table.
A one-way system was in place and there was signs on the floor reminding us to maintain a safe distance from others. Tables were fewer than normal – there was plenty of space between them when usually they would be packed in.
None of the waiting staff wore masks. A couple had plastic aprons on. A walk into town after and I didn’t see much PPE anywhere really.
The front of house team did keep their distance though and they asked us before even pouring the water whether we would prefer our food and drink delivered from a trolley. The first waitress who brought over our tap water checked to see whether we’d like her to pour it, or whether we’d like to do it ourselves.
Food and drink didn’t take any longer to come out. One memorable change is the optional service charge automatically added to bills has risen from 12.5 per cent to 15.
The atmosphere was a little dimmed, a touch stifled. Probably it was the novelty of going out to dine again. It almost felt as if people had to readjust.
There was a difficult moment on the stairs en route to the loo. I had to pause at the top to allow others to come back up. I was happy that everything wasn’t over the top though and people just got on with it.

I’ve booked brunch for this weekend and I admit I’m feeling nervous

We went to a local Italian. The tables were well spaced and the staff had masks. We thought it would be weird-but apart from masks, pouring our own wine and slightly slower service it felt pleasantly normal. The atmosphere was buzzy but not out-of-control. We feel safe and it was lovely to be out and about.

Went to our favourite local restaurant for tea yesterday. It's a big restaurant and I had already seen the changes they had made. There were only four tables in while we were there and it was so nice to see the staff, have a catch up and have a wonderful meal. The restaurant is spotless at the best of times and we knew we would be in safe hands.
The staff had to put fresh gloves on every 15 minutes or after serving every table, so I fed back that this was a waste and they would be better having portable hand gel and just washing their hands regularly.
Got another restaurant booked for Sunday tea time. We're going to work our way through or favourites, one per week!

Not a restaurant but found myself unexpectedly in a pub today Shock Only stayed for a coffee and it was late morning. Nothing different expect you had to write down contact details, sanitise hands, use a one way system, and keep away from people; which was easy as there was only 2 other people in. They did have this rule about no standing up at your table unless you needed to pee.

Does anyone know how one metre plus is supposed to work in a restaurant or pub if you are meeting another household? I'm so confused about this. The guideline says you should take extra precautions like a mask or sit side by side if you can. Surely if you sit side by side you'll be really close and someone would have to face you, and you can't wear masks while eating? Maybe I'm overthinking x
