Spain, will the travel corridor be removed, given lockdown in a Catalonian City?

I was hoping to go on holiday to Spain, but surely as with Portugal quarantine is going to be necessary.

Genuine question; is Lleida much of a tourist destination? It's about 150km from Barcelona so not round the corner. With Portugal wasn't the increase in Lisbon, which is obviously more touristy?

I don’t think so. That means they’re admitting that every time there’s a local outbreak they’re going to remove that country from the list, which I can’t see them doing.

That sounds positive. I know Lleida is on the main drive back to the Uk from Catalonia, my parents always drive that way when they return to th UK

A lot of the locals from Lleida go down to the coast for their holidays.

The outbreak was caused my some migrant fruit pickers.

It's reassuring they have locked the town down.

I don't think they will stop the travel corridor though at the moment.

Doesn't feel quite so safe if the locals travel to the coast..lockdown now won't have stopped transmission to tourist areas.

Very true, but most might not have gone yet. They tend to travel in August when it's too hot for the cities. Where in Spain are you planning to go? I know in Salou just 110km from Lleida has had quite low Covid cases.

The lockdown is for a maximum of 15 days at the moment.

Pleasance · 05/07/2020 11:37

We stay near to Cambrils.

Join the Facegroup Portaventura and Salou for Brits. A few locals on there that give updates on the situation there at the moment.

We are hoping to take the car down to Salou in August but I'm keeping an eye on the situation before we make a decision.

I would say people who have been to an affected area (not necessarily the whole country etc) should consider quarantine/where they go for the 2w after even without it being enforced.
I would probably do that if visiting a high incidence area in uk too.

We've just arrived in Barcelona. Flew with BA and I feel they've done an excellent job on hygiene and social distancing today.
