Will you self isolate if another customer of your hairdresser gets symptoms ?

I have a hair appointment booked. My hairdressers new terms say I HAVE TO self isolate if another one of their customers have Covid symptoms within 2 weeks of my appointment. Now I'd be more impressed if they said you must get tested or I recommend you get tested so I can inform other customers. All seems a bit vague as Covid symptoms does not mean Covid does it ?

I'm not that bothered about getting my hair cut, it's just I was cancelled during lockdown so I'm on the list. And especially as they are saying I should wear a mask. I find this all ridiculous, but I don't know how I'd feel as a hairdresser. I just don't fancy the self isolating for nothing.

Do they not mean if you have had contact with the customer? What does it actually say?

I think your hairdresser is a bit confused. The only time that you would be required to self isolate would be if you happened to be in the hairdressers at the same time as a person who tested positive. The hairdresser will need to keep records of who has appointments so that any crossover between clients can be identfied via trst and trace if necessary.
I would be looking for a nother hairdresser to be honest as I wouldn't want to be going to one who appears to have a very poor grasp of the guidelines.

So you're there sat 4th, somebody gets symptoms whose there on Friday 17th and you have to isolate? That's silly, and how can they make you? Fair enough if you sat next to someone who tested positive, then you may get contacted by track and trace, other than that no!

You only have to isolate if connected to someone testing positive and then track and trace should contact you, the hairdresser cant tell you to isolate.
Are they going to close the hairdresser every time someone has a symptom?

If people had to isolate after being in the same place as someone with symptoms whole towns would be isolating?

And if wearing a mask - would possibly stop the need to isolate anyway.

I think they mean as an individual

Sally is my hairdressers and cuts bobs hair on Wednesday

Hairdressers cuts my hair on Friday

Bob develops convid symptoms a few days later

So in theory sally- my hairdresser could develop Covid herself and have given it to me at my appointment ?

I just can't be bothered with the whole thing, it makes me not want to have a haircut. Sounds unlikely.

No I don’t think that’s right but sally would need to self isolate and if she then was positive after developing symptoms so would you
