Quick straw poll as I am curious to find out how widespread this is - how many of your older teens are sticking to the guidelines?

If I had to guess I would suspect a majority are not fully compliant

I'll start. Ds (16) fully compliant, but he is happily an introvert. Dd (18 next week) started well with socially distanced meet ups but has infringed the rules to stay over at a friend's, and has also acquired a new boyfriend which certainly hasn't respected social distancing. She hasn't attended any parties or mass gatherings though. I feel a niggling sense of guilt (but perhaps not as much as I should)

Mine have been adhering to the guidance, helped by the fact they’re almost completely reliant on me driving them anywhere, neither have close friends in walking distance and public transport is rubbish at the best of time, no idea if the buses are running. Ds has met his girlfriend, always outside, couldn’t comment on the distancing while I am not there but she’s the only person he’s seen. Dd has met a couple of friends for walks or picnics. So yes I think mine are compliant.

Mine aren't at all but neither are they attending raves or drawing attention to themselves

Three teens. None have left the house at all apart from to go in the garden. They accept it. I realise I am lucky here.

Mine are largely (I think). Ds2 has met up once with his gf outside, and I don’t know how socially distant that was . He also met another friend for a couple of bike rides. He’s in year 10 so back at school 1 day per week too (although they are supposed to maintain the 2m distance there). Ds1 (introvert with no friends within easy distance because his school was much further from where we live) hasn’t seen any friends. They socialise via WhatsApp, text etc though (and did before all this anyway).

Ds is in y8 hes been out a handful of times and football training a few times. I can't hand on heart say he has kept 2m from his friends 100% of the time but certainly the majority. If I'm honest I wish he would go out more it's not good for any teenager to only leave the house a few hours a week.

DS (15) totally to the letter. But he's autistic and thinks social distancing should become law

Mine is 19 and really careful, only meeting his equally careful (as they’re all high risk) three friends socially distanced. He’s been amazing really.

DS (19) assures me he has been fully compliant, though he is out a lot, so I am not there to monitor him. Has been on walks and bike rides with friends and has met up in their gardens. Knows his Dad is high risk, so takes the issue seriously. DD (16) definitely fully compliant. Only meet ups with friends have been in our garden, definitely sitting over 2 metres apart.

I forgot to mention he even wipes down anything he buys first! he does have anxiety which might have effected his behaviour towards this though.

Both of mine (15 and 13) have been fully compliant.
They've met family in the park for socially distanced chat, other than that only really been to the local shop.
Ds1 is back at school where I assume they are staying 2ms apart.

Pretty compliant, very conscious of the fact that they are low risk but could pass it to older people. Have met up with friends outdoors and no sleepovers or parties so far. I think most teens I know have been the more sensible and pragmatic about this situation than many adults.

I have four teens who've all been fully compliant with local rules throughout. But we reopened a bit before the UK, so recently they've been able to do more things like go shopping, give each other lifts, etc.

My older teens comply religiously. They are probably better at it all than I am.

They have masks, gloves, disinfecting hand gel and wipes if they do have to go out.

My daughter turned 15 during lockdown and has obeyed the rules to the letter. My 16 year old just saw his girlfriend outside of the family. He once shook someone's hand and immediately thought 'whoa'! Once they allowed you to meet one other person he has gone on bike rides etc with others. Now I don't think he is keeping 2m apart with his mates and has got himself a new girlfriend and judging by the hickey on his neck...

14 and 16 yr old - both sticking to the guidelines.

My 15 year old has met a few friends outside, the same each time, not more than six. All v good. Then they played football

13 year old has complied completely.

Much better than MIL who wanted us to sit in her house when we went to see her in the garden...

As far as I know DS17 sticking to rules. Has met up with friends in parks, may have been less than 2m apart but outside I am not sure it's so crucial. He's been on a train twice and wore face coverings as required.

DT's been perfect I have to say. Just a daily walk together, up all night chatting to mates but not gone out at all. Does help that we live miles from anywhere. Honestly, I'm a bit worried about them wanting to get back out there, showing marked reluctance. I go out far more

DC1 lives away. Broke rules at least once, to go build models with a friend.

DC2: followed rules perfectly until mid May. Seen friends maybe 6x since and is not conforming when sees them.

DC3: Perfect before but I imagine 2m not perfect on 2x has seen friends in last 10 days.

I feel sure they are doing better than most adults, actually. Big test will be pub reopening. Adults will have salaries to go to the pub. Teens not so much.

Mine have been really good, DD age 14 and DS 16, they have kept up with school work, both were very social before Covid and always out and about but adapted to lockdown quite well, had a few squabbles, eaten me out of house and home and DS has become somewhat nocturnal but all in all haven’t been any trouble, they miss their friends but not school, most of their friends have been good too. Proud of them.

Mine is 17,we finally(3 year wait) have a diagnosis if Asd(autism).She has stayed in the whole time in a year I need to be getting her out,shopping on her own,meeting her few friends.Very worried that if this continues she isolates her self even more.

I have 4 teenagers. DS1 is home from Uni, has played golf once with one friend ( socially distanced), Ds2 has been very good all through lock down, really missing his festivals and clubbing. in the last week he has met friends at the park once, been to a friends garden once and got drunk, and been to another friends garden this evening. Ds3 meets his gf once a week for the past few weeks since you have been able to meet with one person, they go to a field and sit chatting ( apparently ! ). DD had her 15th birthday last week and met a few friends on the park and stayed socially distanced, other than that she has not seen anyone. I really feel for the teenagers and overall I'm proud of how well they have done. from tomorrow we are back in lockdown ( Leicester) and they know they have to toe the line again.
