I know this is speculation, but do we think these will be going ahead in September? I can’t work without them, but I have three and they will be mixing with other class bubbles.

I don't see how they can on one hand, but on the other I dont see how they can not. I believe there is meant to be information on the plan for wraparound care this week, so hopefully will become clearer.

LockdownLou · 29/06/2020 16:52

Ok I’ll look out for that, thanks.

If they are running then that’s cross contamination of every bubble in the school-I just can’t see how they can.

On the briefing on Tuesday BJ did say wraparound care can return. Our school's is planning on being open as it stands.

usernotfound0000 · 29/06/2020 17:01

Ours have asked for confirmation of days that we will need and are working on the assumption that they will be running, fingers crossed!

NothingIsWrong · 29/06/2020 17:06

Ours has emailed saying they are assuming they will be open as before and asking for confirmation of days I want

Helpmyhair2019 · 29/06/2020 17:07

How can people go to work without them? I’m a teacher and rely on them to be able to teach my class!

lyralalala · 29/06/2020 17:30

We've been told by the school that we run in that regardless of the government guidance if they have bubbles then we can only hire their space if we adhere to bubbles.

We normally have children from 3 primary schools and we may not be able to cover all 3 as we won't have enough staff to split between all the bubbles.

One has said they may allow us to do a mix of a bubble - If we have 5 Y1's for example and only 1 Y4 they may allow us to mix that Y4 if they are a sibling of one of the Y1's, but tbh that just sounds like a headache so I have no idea how it's going to work

LynetteScavo · 29/06/2020 18:20

I know one school where they started running again this week. So much crossing of bubbles, but it's obviously allowed or it wouldn't be happening Confused

Bol87 · 29/06/2020 19:54

Our local is has been running since the schools went back! No idea how but it has.. it’s quite big with several staff, so potentially they’ve been able to keep the few kids actually needing it in their class bubbles maybe..

Hmmm, I think that is a bit draconian of the school. The bubbles mix with siblings anyway. I wonder if they will be able to operate if they split their children into "bubbles" of their own and parents accept this. Schools can not insist that children remain segregated out of school, can they. Maybe if the after school club had its own space within the school, not otherwise used by school, it would be easier.

The problem will be the venue for a lot of out of school care.

If you are hiring school premesis then they (or sometimes the LA) can put rules in place. The council here have said they won't be hiring outside venues, like the community centre, to groups that normally run in schools. Basically backing up the schools stance

We have our own space in the school, but it's still in the school building. The HT can choose who they are happy to let into the building and who they are not

Plus getting into a war with a school is a quick way out of business!
