Coronavirus test gave me a swollen eye

I had a Coronavirus test yesterday as I’m going into hospital next week and it’s compulsory to have the test first (I don’t have any symptoms). Immediately after the test my eye was sore (it felt bruised like I’d been punched in the face). This morning I woke up with a swollen eye lid and it’s still very sore. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

Conjunctivitis?

Newjez · 28/06/2020 11:14

Did they touch your eye when they did the test?

I don’t think so as it didn’t hurt before the test, it starting hurting straight away, I mentioned it to my husband as we were driving out of the testing center. There’s no discharge or anything from the eye, it’s just swollen. As they go so far up the nostril I wondered if it could damage the eye from the inside.

They didn’t touch the eye/face from the outside but the swab goes very deep inside the nostril so I was wondering if it could be bruised from the inside?

It would be a very peculiar reaction?! Surely the swab went nowhere near your eye? And if you had an allergic reaction, you’d assume you’d have swelling in your throat & nose?!

The swab causes your eyes to water (they warn you about that before they do it)...it just seems to much of a coincidence that it started hurting immediately after they did the swab not to be caused by it? ...from the pictures I’ve googled of where the swab goes it certainly doesn’t look like it’s near the eye...very strange!...still swollen and sore over 24hours later!

Sounds painful. Do you have a temp?

BabyLlamaZen · 28/06/2020 20:50

Did you touch your eye after they watered? May have given yourself the infection then.

Your eyes, specifically your tear ducts are connected to your nose, so it’s not impossible that it’s happened.
