What are paediatric SLTs and physiotherapists doing?

I know some have been redeployed but what are the ones who haven’t been and are working from home doing?

My friend is a paediatric speech therapist and she’s doing consultations via video and is extremely busy. She was initially redeployed during the worst days of the outbreak but is now doing her usual job all be it in unusual circumstances.

Ds specialist teacher advisor from speech and communication team is working online/ from home.

In fact we've been able to get more input during this time as usual school visits and assessments aren't happening.

Some paeds ones have also been deployed to frontline.
Doesn't matter their speciality when assisting ventilated patients with rehabilitation

I'm still working as I'm employed directly by a special school.

My colleagues are WFH, doing phone consultations and video sessions.

Got trained to be redeployed but never happened due to no need. Carrying out video appointments from home but fighting the case to be able to provide some face to face appointments to vulnerable families/families who have no/limited internet who are in desperate need of (and asking for) face to face visits. Getting very frustrated with how much routine stuff that has stopped with no plans to get it back up and running and also increasingly worried with the rise in safeguarding concerns.

My sister is a senior SLT and she was compulsorily redeployed to work as a health care assistant in a hospital. She is back working remotely now..

My friend who is a senior SALT in a children's hospital is donning full PPE and on wards/ITU doing the work she is normally doing, she is doing some non contact remote work from home but mostly just in as usual.

Ds physios (one “normal” physio and one respiratory physio) are both doing sessions via attends anywhere, we are also in regular email contact with them (I am loving the increase of email use by health professionals now!)

Although it’s not as good as being able to see them face to face it is working well and allowing us to keep on top of things

We're doing urgent face to face visits and otherwise doing calls assessments and interventions by WhatsApp.
Also done an awful lot of training ready for potential redeployment.

I work in a children's hospital, and we still see physios and SALTs on the wards. I imagine some are working from home, doing online outpatient appointments too.

Working from home doing remote consultations and supporting more junior members of the team with supervision etc.
Also lots of behind the scenes planning to make face to face clinics safe for therapists and families as there are some things that just don’t work as well remotely.
I’m definitely at least as busy as normal if not more!

My daughter's SALT has spent hours on the phone this week to me, school, peads about DD trying to help sort some more resources. When visits restart she is due a block of therapy.

Like most HCP's who haven't been redeployed, they'll be doing their jobs remotely, with some doing face to face depending on the risk ax done by their service.
What do you think they'd be doing, OP?

My son’s fantastic SLT has given us phone consultations, sent through exercises and strategies to perform at home, made herself available for questions, updated the online portal, took a call from a different team regarding my sons EHCP and also submitted her report onto the separate EHCP portal. So that’s quite a lot of work on just one child.

What are you looking for here, OP? Posts saying that they're at home painting their nails and watching Netflix?
