It’s not nonsense though is it?

IcedPurple · 23/06/2020 20:11

I've always been of the opinion that it was a daft gesture purely 'for show' and that it will be quietly dropped in July.

LochJessMonster · 23/06/2020 20:13

Hope so!

edgeware · 23/06/2020 20:16

I read something that Bojo will announce travel air bridges on 29 june, I’m hoping then.

MrsWhites · 23/06/2020 20:37

It’s complete nonsense, it’s an unworkable policy that came far too late and they can’t police, not to mention the fact that they let people go home from the airport by public transport!

I think they will announce travel corridors with most European countries this week and then quietly change the travel advice on the foreign office website next week!

didireallysaythat · 23/06/2020 20:39

Makes little sense where nearly everywhere in Europe has a lower infection rate than us. It should be the other way around...

AnyFucker · 23/06/2020 20:39

God, I hope so !

Bol87 · 23/06/2020 23:19

See, I’m not against them to countries with sky rocketing cases! I think airbridges are the way to go. I agree it’s daft when travelling to any country with a lower amount of cases than us. But watching the US, Brazil, Mexico, Pakistan where cases are through the roof .. I fully want anyone travelling back from those countries to isolate please!

Redolent · 24/06/2020 00:06

Agreed! Lots of posters here fully intending to go on their Disney World Florida trips and come back with no quarantine....
bluetongue · 24/06/2020 12:37

It could be worse. Here in Australia we’re not allowed to leave the country apart from exceptional circumstances!

BarefootHippieChick · 24/06/2020 12:46

Tbh it's a bit pointless now and should have been done back in March when cases were surging upwards. I think it will be dropped in the next few weeks just in time for the school holidays.

googledontknow · 24/06/2020 12:49

Brought in too late and will be dropped very soon I expect. The airline industry are a very powerful lobby group and most people in the UK think it's nonsense to have it now but not during the peak of the pandemic in the UK.

PlanDeRaccordement · 24/06/2020 13:01

It was done to kick start the economy forcing British to holiday in the UK instead of abroad. They want all the money spent here on British holiday cottages, hotels, pubs and so on. And it’s worked.
250% increase in bookings for August compared to last year.
