For instance a villa holiday in menorca end of July? What are my chances?

But you're not travelling to provide essential healthcare, op.

trumpisaflump · 17/06/2020 17:54

OP I think the screen shot still shows that this relates to medical staff from abroad travelling here. ie foreign staff. I bloody hope the quarantine goes as I want my holidays 😂

Snailsetssail · 17/06/2020 17:59

Can someone not make a mistake without people jumping down their throat anymore? The OP may be wrong in her interpretation of the guidance, but there is a polite way to inform her of this, I can’t believe someone daren’t to call her “not bright”!! This is supposed to be a forum of mums, people who are raising children to be decent human beings and yet you can’t even be kind to each other!

OP I hope you get to go on holiday and have a great time. Thank you for the work you are doing within the NHS, whether others deem this as “essential” or not I am sure you have had many challenges recently and most people are incredibly grateful there are people like you doing those jobs.

Snailsetssail · 17/06/2020 18:00

*dare

ragged · 17/06/2020 18:10

I hope you get your lovely hols in the sun, OP, one way or the other.

Chaotic45 · 17/06/2020 18:10

At the very top in big letters it says 'registered health or care professionals travelling to the UK to provide essential healthcare' i.e the sole purpose of your travel needs to be coming to the UK to provide healthcare, not coming back to the UK after your holiday to do your usual job of healthcare.

I am indeed straight talking, and if you find me a rude arsehole then fair enough. It doesn't change the fact that you're in danger of misinterpreting some pretty important guidelines, the likes of which you'd hope someone who is responsible for other's wellbeing wouldn't find so hard to understand.

trumpisaflump · 17/06/2020 18:24

Well said @Snailsetssail
Are you this horrible to people in real life @Chaotic45? The OP made a mistake. Big deal. We all make mistakes.

Chaotic45 · 17/06/2020 18:31

I'm quite straight taking in real life, and I stand by my comment of it not being very bright to make such a glaring misinterpretation.

Of course we all make mistakes, especially me, but seriously I'm baffled as to how anyone can think because they have a role in the NHS they can go abroad and return without quarantine if that's what others have to do in order to maintain infection control.

I don't tend to call people arseholes or tell them to shove their thoughts up their arse though in all honesty.

hopingtobedally · 17/06/2020 18:31

No but you are travelling to the uk from abroad to fulfill your job providing essential health care regardless of why you are travelling
You don't believe me it's no skin off my Bose

Sorry OP but the no quarantine rules won't apply to you, but if you can work from home I guess that would make no difference.
The lack of travel insurance cover would be my main issue with going abroad this year. It's too high a risk.

Chaotic45 · 17/06/2020 18:32

Oh crikey OP, I give up. Good luck!

hopingtobedally · 17/06/2020 18:32

No you just tell them they can't possibly do a certain job as you feel they aren't very bright you pass agg little saddo
