Just curious if you are still seeing patients being admitted extremely unwell with Covid? And in large numbers?
Am trying to understand whether the new cases we are recording now are more people with mild symptoms because of increased testing?

Not in my hospital.

My trust has stated there are currently 75 patients over the 3 sites, currently infected with covid-19.

Nope

No, because people with mild symptoms would not be admitted to hospital. Hospital admission is based on clinical need not diagnosis.

Ok, ignore me. I think I read you incorrectly.

Crimples · 14/06/2020 15:40

Sorry @carexfairex I didn’t explain myself properly.
When I said new cases I meant new infections recorded not new admissions

Oh to expand on my numbers, that's down from 90 the week before. So people are being discharged and we are no seeing many come in. We were a high Infection area in the south east

Crimples · 14/06/2020 16:58

That’s interesting @Greysparkles, maybe it’s a similar picture in other areas.
I know in general the total number of patients in hospital has reduced a lot overall.
My impression is that there seems to be less serious new infections but maybe that’s not the case it’s just that we’re not hearing about them as much now

I havent beennin work for a month or so because there hasn't been any shifts going for bank staff so that probably tells me that the wards are half empty. Alot of the wards have been shut (eg surgery etc) my mum works in a different hospital in a conetly different area to me and she said the other day they only had 1 person in the whole hospital that was infected. They havent had a death for over a month

Nonnymum · 15/06/2020 14:40

They update the numbers being admitted every day in the briefings. I think it's several hundred every day.

We were very quiet and now seeing covid admissions again. Maybe not quite as ill and certainly not like the madness it was back in april. If anything we'd become somewhat complacent...
