It hasn’t been cancelled yet. They’ve moved this offichal payment date to the start of July. Presumably to see how things are by then.
Does anyone think it’ll go ahead? It’ll be in Wales and we are in England.

Ive moved my uk holiday england to next year.
Just couldnt enjoy it as none of the facilities pool etc might be open. Plus beaches will be busy.
Try contacting them?

Mummypig2020 · 13/06/2020 14:45

We are going on the 10th, can’t wait!

Brendabigbaps · 13/06/2020 14:49

We’re supposed be going to wales the first week in August. I’m starting to loose hope thAt it will happen and I’m starting look for alternate options within the England border.
I’ve been speaking the holiday let owner and she’s not hopeful either!

MyMagicStars · 13/06/2020 15:16

DD4 is hoping to be reunited with her BF and his family after the best part of 4.5 months in about a months time. They’re going to a self catering holiday cottage in Devon, hopefully- I don’t know whether to prepare her for the worst as she’ll be so crushed if it doesn’t happen.

Frume · 13/06/2020 15:24

We're due mid August to Dorset. I'm hopeful!

Pipandmum · 13/06/2020 15:25

My friend owns a holiday let and the agency has given them lots of advice to prepare it (remove unnecessary furnishings, provide sanitizer, cleaning protocol). She's hoping they will get most of July, August and September visitors.

Frume · 13/06/2020 15:31

Mid July sorry!

Doje · 13/06/2020 15:35

We're booked in Wales for early August, so on tenterhooks here too.

I think there's a Welsh review on Thursday, so we'll know more then.

Nosuchluck · 13/06/2020 16:06

We've booked a 5 day hotel break for next month, I'm looking forward to it. My DH really need a change of scene and some time away from out 20 and 21 year old.I
The hotel sounds like it's well organized for social distancing.

Drivingdownthe101 · 13/06/2020 16:09

We’ve just booked Devon for the first week in August after our flights to Spain in July were cancelled by the airline.
Looking forward to it!

rookiemere · 13/06/2020 16:11

We're due to be going self catering in England- although it will be dependant on how many households are allowed to mix by then.
Very happy to go if we can, but it's quite a secluded area and we're mostly going for relaxed walking days and catching up, so if restaurants and attractions aren't open, it won't impact the holiday too much.

ineedaholidaynow · 13/06/2020 16:11

Is it definite hotels etc are going to be open?

Drivingdownthe101 · 13/06/2020 16:12

No not definite. But in the plan for July I think. And as a lot of them will go under if they can’t open in July/August then I imagine every effort will be made for them to be able to open.

Drivingdownthe101 · 13/06/2020 16:13

The only problem with Wales is that Drakeford said the 5 mile rule will apply to holiday makers too, and that he doesn’t intend dropping that rule in the summer. So there’s a possibility that you would only be able to travel within 5 miles of your accommodation.

mamapants · 13/06/2020 16:14

As I understand the Welsh government have confirmed there will be no announcements regarding holidays before 9th July. Also they have strongly suggested that when they allow holidays those on holiday will have to stick to the 5 mile rule which is likely to be in place until Sept.

Brendabigbaps · 13/06/2020 18:35

5 miles wouldn't bother us, we just need 4 new walls to look at (& a hot tub)

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 13/06/2020 18:46

We’ve just booked a holiday house in North Yorkshire for a few days in July, not planning on doing anything but walks with the dog and making use of the outdoor kitchen/fire pit/jacuzzi etc.

starrynight19 · 13/06/2020 18:56

We have a week in Northumberland booked for first week of August after our flights to Portugal in August were cancelled hoping it goes ahead. Just a change of scenery would be amazing rather than work and home.

Ifonlyiweretaller · 13/06/2020 22:52

Holiday parks in UK open at beginning of July, and in Scotland in mid July. I think facilities will be somewhat restricted but at least people can get away for a break...

Bollards21 · 14/06/2020 09:00

Where did you get info about openning early JUly. I have a hol in Cornwall booked mid July but the site are saying nothing about reopenning?

Hopingforsummer1 · 14/06/2020 10:09

We have a seaside cottage booked for the first week in August. Very hopeful it will happen 😀

ClashCityRocker · 14/06/2020 10:18

The date they were working towards was 4th July in England although it has not been confirmed that it will actually happen yet.

We're booked in for tenth July self catering and as far as the owners are concerned it's all set to go ahead, provided the government give the OK.

ineedaholidaynow · 14/06/2020 10:54

I was reading an article yesterday about what a hotel might look like under the new rules. They would be encouraging room service. If you did eat in the restaurant it would be waiter service only and obviously restricted numbers and socially distanced. The swimming pool would be open but you couldn’t use the changing rooms.

MyMagicStars · 14/06/2020 12:08

This has given me some hope for DD4! She’s 21 and has been a star during this, sewing masks, doing endless jobs and finishing her degree at home while living without her BF. I’m so hopeful she’ll get a break and be able to enjoy Devon, even sea air and a chance to run on the sand would mean the world to her.

Nosuchluck · 14/06/2020 17:07

I've had about 20 emails from various hotels saying they're opening on 4th, I've booked one for 19th. I guess if they don't open then I'll rearrange for another date. I just really need to something to look forward to and write on my empty calender.
