I didn't hear my phone.

What do they want? Are these the T&T people?

Gosh sorry, posted in a hurry.

I am not adverse to talking to them, just wondering what they could want.

Be careful, I've heard a lot of scanners are using this at the moment. They'll try to get you to pay for a test over the phone.

sylbunny · 09/06/2020 14:46

I can't see anything online. I'd be super cautious about this being a scam.

ladyandthechocolate · 09/06/2020 14:49

@crunchymum the t&t number is an 0300 number. You should answer it next time as you might have been in contact with a confirmed case (if you aren’t a confirmed case yourself) and they need to give you information. The official answer phone message mentions the nhs covid-19 response so it sounds genuine

TheTigerKing · 09/06/2020 14:51

I've found this online:

'Contact tracers will also only call from the telephone number 0300 013 5000, and send text messages from “NHS” '

Crunchymum · 09/06/2020 14:52

This was an 0333 number.

I missed the call, I didn't ignore, was just wondering what it could be regarding.

I'll Google the full number

Scammers can make the number look like whatever number they want, heard someone on the radio earlier get a call from hsbc she checked the number against the number on her bank card and it matched but the real call was from a different number.

Purpleorange1 · 09/06/2020 14:57

It's a scam. I had a call from an 0333 number and they left a message, I had to press 1 to hear the message. There was no message unfortunately they took that as a ring her at all times invite. The phone was ringing non stop for 2 days. They even rang at 4.10am, then started at 7am. In the end I blocked the number and reported the dickheads. I googled the number and it was coming under harassment and nuisance calls.

mumwon · 09/06/2020 15:15

thanks for putting this out - you may have saved others from scammers & anyone that has been fooled by these people - please don't feel foolish because you are not! they are playing on our fears & are conniving crooks -

I found this thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3882180-Shielding-service-03333050466-is-this-a-scam?pg=1

This is the number that called me!

OP posts:
Purpleorange1 · 09/06/2020 16:21

The number starts with the same digits as the shielding number. The scam number was 03333440000, so just be wary of any 0333 numbers. These low lives, disgrace of human beings know that those of us sheilding will be expecting a call from the shielding line so have used a similar number.

Hillocrew · 09/06/2020 23:20

Heartless bastards!

Redolent · 10/06/2020 07:31

There might be some elderly or non-tech savvy people who get suckered in by them.

Are we seeing adverts telling people how to differentiate between an NHS call and scammers? Widespread public information campaigns?

ThousandsAreSailing · 10/06/2020 07:33

Aside from the scams I wouldn't trust serco with any info. Their track record is awful
