Any NHS workers had their blood results back yet?

Mine was negative. Im not going to lie I am abit dissappointed even though people say it proves nothing, you can get it again etc etc. I was sick earlier this year and I was convinced Id had it. Half of our staff have been off shielding at some point so who knows what will come out of it all.

How were your results?

Not had mine yet, and don't think I've had it so fully expecting a negative

mouldygrapes · 07/06/2020 10:29

Yes. Negative.
Not normally in acute medicine but did a couple of weeks on the covid wards including areas of AGP. I did have PPE including FFP3 masks but we were having to use one mask all day to conserve stocks

raviolidreaming · 07/06/2020 10:47

Antibody test? Yes, mine was negative which I was very surprised about. I'm in the vaccine trial so will have 8 weeks of weekly swabs starting this week - will be interested to see what results they bring now restrictions are being lifted.

AnnaMagnani · 07/06/2020 11:01

My workplace has done a load of antibody tests although annoyingly on the day I don't work there. Turned up a lot of people that had had it - including my friend who hasn't had any of the symptoms on the list except a period when she had 'a bad headache' so maybe that was it.

Nobody had been seriously ill at all and most not ill whatsoever although we do work in a place that had an early outbreak so not surprising that we had some infections.

We had loads of PPE delivered so no-one ever felt unsafe. Friend thinks she got her infection at Butlins.

BadAlice · 07/06/2020 11:06

Haven’t had mine yet. Hoping I have had it though tbh as I do believe it will probably give you some immunity/protection. I’m pretty sure if one person in our team has had it, we all have as it’s impossible to socially distance amongst us.

EachandEveryone · 07/06/2020 11:14

You would think so but our unit is small one had it she was quite sick but so far not of us have tested positive. Ive been getting public transport to work (no choice) everyday for years so when i got the cold from hell I really thought that was it. Its surprising all the negatives. My friends dh is ITU and was positive so were quite afew of his colleagues which isnt surprising. None of them were sick with it though. Its just so unknown its scary.

Aren’t there lots of false negatives, though?

I was really worried about them talking about the possibility of getting it worse a second time vs being protected a second time.

AmeliaTaylor · 07/06/2020 12:28

Got mine back within 24hr. Positive.

wickedgames · 07/06/2020 12:29

Mine was negative despite having symptoms.

hopefulhalf · 07/06/2020 12:31

Friend thinks she got her infection at Butlins. Do you mind me asking which one ? I have a colleague who also thinks she got it at Butlins (I think Bognor).

AnnaMagnani · 07/06/2020 12:40

No idea. Plus she said she is only guessing as that was the only time she had anything that could be an illness and it could have been a hangover Grin

Egghead68 · 07/06/2020 12:47

Negative even though I had 10 weeks of symptoms.

Skyisbluetoday · 07/06/2020 14:55

Negative. DS had symptoms so I was hoping we may have had it.

nobbymcphailisverypale · 07/06/2020 15:00

Am waiting for my result. Obviously hoping it's positive but it's probably going to be negative as I haven't had any specific symptoms at any point.

MeadowHay · 07/06/2020 15:46

My DH and DB both had theirs and both negative, which was all expected as nobody in either household had symptoms and they'd both had PPE when interacting with suspected and known covid patients. They're both disappointed all the same though!

Dannn · 07/06/2020 16:51

Mine was positive, I work in ICU so have had lots of exposure and lots of problems with PPE e.g. sharing visors so not a real surprise, although I didn’t have any symptoms so no idea when I had it.

Oblomov20 · 07/06/2020 17:06

Are you worried by this?
It's not good, is it?

Hagisonthehill · 07/06/2020 17:11

They haven't even started in our hospitals and no mentioning of when it is happening.

IslaMann · 07/06/2020 17:13

Mine was negative. Not surprised tbh. I'm viewing it as very useful data collection.

mrsmoppp · 07/06/2020 17:13

Negative which I wasnt surprised about but I did have an episode of terrible headaches and loss of smell

rosinavera · 07/06/2020 17:18

Ringing up to book mine tomorrow but I think mine will be negative. We've been having swabs weekly for the last couple of weeks as our hospital is closed with a spike at the moment - aren't they unpleasant - they last one made me cry!! :-(

Medstudent12 · 07/06/2020 18:34

Negative. Doctor. Working on variety of settings including covid wards. Had symptoms couple months back, finally got a test after couple weeks and I think it was too late to come back positive.

I’m young and fit, I think I may have had it and cleared it without getting antibodies. I cannot fathom how when I have been so close to covid positive patients with minimal Ppe and staff members the day before they developed florid covid symptoms that I haven’t managed to catch it!

Medstudent12 · 07/06/2020 18:35

I don’t think having antibodies is that great seeing as we don’t really know what it means yet so wasn’t really disappointed.

I’m worried that some colleagues had positive swabs at the time and now have no antibodies....

EachandEveryone · 07/06/2020 20:17

I know, what does that even mean?

Ethellsmum · 07/06/2020 21:03

Had mine today, waiting for results.
