Social distancing and re-opening of hospitality?

Do you think it's likely that social distancing with other households may be relaxed in alignment with the hospitality sector re-opening? I'm just thinking on a practical level, although social distancing/2 metre rule will still be implemented between tables, I presume that each individual table won't have each seat two metres apart. Unless they only expect people to go alone/with their household? Hmm

Nobody knows yet how restaurants will reopen.

However it certainly won’t be the restaurants responsibility to police who you dining with and whether or not you are from the same household.

Surely the tables have to be more than 2 metres apart? Someone sat at a table is another 1/2 metre or so, and then people walking between tables need 2m, so you're looking at more like 5 metres between table edges to maintain social distance if there's someone sat at each table and people are walking between them.

I think it would really help this sector if they could reduce to 1m as per the WHO recommendations.

Youngs brewery were on Sky News this afternoon and he's saying he want to wait until August for the reopening of his pubs as he thinks it'll be 1m social distancing by then
I was having this conversation yesterday , I normally go out with 3other friends , we can't possibly all sit 1 or 2 metres apart it's unworkable

I was listening to 5Live and a pub/club owner said they make most of their profit on the last 10% of people in there.
So you reduce customers by 50% due to social distancing and they won’t make money and will probably make a loss. Very tricky.

Hopefully those with large outdoor areas can open and I also hope social distancing is down to 1m soon.

I am interested in the answer to this too. I just asked on a thread about other countries going back to "normal" whether people there could only go to restaurants /bars with their own household.
