From Covid to George Floyd and black lives matter?
Obviously a really good thing to highlight and support the black community so this isn’t a negative post. Just an observational one.

I have noticed other news stories now, when before it was literally everything to do with COVID-19 now there is other stories the major one being George Floyd - which is right this should be one of the top news stories- but also noticing other stories as well. Think overall this is a good thing that the press are covering different stories and pushing them to the top as hopefully it will stop the scaremongering and other pointless articles surrounding COVID-19.

I think its great. For weeks nothing was reported or spoken about, but covid.

Other things had to have happened in that time. Bit there was nothing.

As a bame woman, I desperately wish, it hadn't taken this to to get people to wnat to know about other things. But honestly, I thought covid would be just another excuse that this is swept under the carpet. What happen to George was absolutely awful. The way lots of people have been treating otger over covid has come concerned me. But some of the things I have seen on social over the last few days, people coming together, people caring, people acting has restored some of my faith in people that I was losing

I assumed this was trump's plan to get everyone to look away from the huge FU he has made of corona. Get them all rioting, then blame the Corona spread on the mass gatherings.

UnFuckingAcceptable · 03/06/2020 07:07

As well it should.

Bol87 · 03/06/2020 08:45

I’m incredibly saddened it took an horrific murder to do so but thankgod the news just isn’t rolling corona!

Life hasn’t stopped. All the problems & issues carry on. And they’ll carry on long after Corona dies down. We know we are in a pandemic. We know people are dying. It needs to be in the news of course but alongside other issues/news/stories etc

It's setting up the protesters and huge gatherings to blame for the next spike in cases. So when US and UK have terrible death rates compared to near enough everywhere else it gives these leaders a chance to further pass the buck.

And you will say that it was Boris plan too if the protests here go wrong.

It is setting protests during a lockdown due to a pandemic. Nice way to twist facts.

xxyzz · 03/06/2020 19:09

The protests in the US are huge and deserve to be a major new story.

The President threatening to being about the end of the democracy in the US by bringing out the military to attack peaceful protesters is clearly a very important news story.

However, it's very convenient for both Trump and Johnson that it has distracted attention from their fuck ups over the management of the disease and the exceptionally high death rates.
