Returning to childminder/nursery - how did first day go?

How did your little ones get on today? Are your Childminders/nursery workers wearing pps?

Our 16 month old DS is due to return to the childminder next week. He will have been out of childcare for longer than he was in it before lockdown so I’m not sure how things are going to go. Our childminder and her assistant will be wearing ppe. I’m dreading the re-settling but know it will be good for him to be with other kids again and have some fun.

Ps totally understand the need for childminder to wear mask/gloves/apron but am slightly worried how my DS will react. I’m hoping he will find it funny (he’ll probably try to rip the mask off and put it on his head) Confused

Following as we are in the same boat with our 11 month old tomorrow!

My daughter went back to nursery today and loved being back with other children(she's an only).
The staff only wear ppe to serve food and in nappy changes /toilets. I think it would be scary for the kids if they wore it all the time?

My DD is going back to the childminder on Wednesday. She’s 2 so a bit older and has been there over a year. I’m hoping she’ll be ok, we’ve told her she’s going back and she seems excited. I predict she’ll be fine this week then might have a wobble next week. We’ve been really lucky so far and she’s never cried on drop off but she’s become pretty clingy during lockdown (understandably). As far as I know our childminder won’t be wearing PPE.

Teachers & childminders have been advised they don’t need to wear PPE.. I think it’s a bit scary for children to be honest!

My daughter returned to nursery today. Drop off wasn’t pleasant as I expected, lots of tears 😞 but she’s not left my side for 11 weeks so .. I rang nursery an hour later & she was totally fine, busy playing outside! She was the happiest girly when I picked her up, didn’t want to come home & nattered all the way home! 😊 can’t wait to go back tomorrow..

I’m relieved she’s back for her mental health but I guess there will always be some anxiety for a while ..

A mask all the time?! Does the childminder know that it’s important for a child to see people speaking (how their mouths move) for language development? And it sounds like it’d be rather unsettling.

Mine went back today (4 and 16 months). No PPE. Little one cried when I left but was fine the rest of the day. Eldest ran in and had a ball.

My two year old DS went back today. Lots of tears at drop off, but I expected that after 10 weeks together. He's moved up to the next room since lockdown started and dropped the nap so today was a big day.
He's usually in 9-6 but only 9-3 at the moment due to numbers. By 3pm when I went to get him he was ready to come home.
Staff were great and only ppe for meals and food, they were allowed to play with sand and water and had lots of cuddles.

This is exactly why I wanted him back at nursery, he needs this social interaction with other kids and adults.
