I have name changed as some details will be outing! I will also say I'm autistic so worry about the rules not being straightforward.

We live in Wales and the dad lives in England, him and his girlfriend are key workers (one NHS) he wants to have them for a weekend which I understand as he hasn't seen them since the lockdown. We have agreed that obviously if anyone has symptoms then it won't happen.

Eldest wants to go desperately as the rules are more relaxed in England so they can do more things, and I think he would let him go out on the bikes by himself (I don't think he is sensible enough with the social distancing, he has additional needs and doesn't always think!)

The youngest (high school age) is very anxious and doesn't want to go.

I know they need to see him, but it's a long journey (he wants us to meet part way if we can) and I think if the rules were the same in both countries it might be different, but in Wales we aren't meant to travel more than 5 miles. I know contact is allowed but am under the impression so long as you don't have to travel too far, and would not really go anywhere whilst visiting the other parent.

I just wondered what people think, and if we get stopped by the police, would we be justified.

We have been following the rules which has been hard, but I think their dad would 'stretch' them.

Such a difficult decision, any advice gratefully received and I'm happy to be told I'm being ridiculous to even question them going and I need to relax 😬😆

I believe you are supposed to continue to share custody unless anyone is isolating. It might reassure you to contact your local police and confirm that you will be traveling for child handover.
