What is your nursery charging in June (where not attending)?

What percentage of fees is your nursery charging parents who decide not to send their children in the month of June (for reasons other than shielding)? Interested in private nurseries in London in particular. Thanks

I would imagine it would be full fees if you’re choosing not to. Or they’ll give your place to somebody else. They’ll need to start making money again.

Nothing at all, half fees in July and August. Theyve been amazing!!

Not a nursery but I am a childminder I am charging like all local childminders 100% fees from 1st of June as I am open and offering a service, all contracts valid so full fees apply if I parents uses the service or not. If they don’t want to pay then they are welcome to give notice and pay full fee for the notice periods. Sadly I can not afford to hold spaces for those who can’t or won’t pay.

30% for June if we choose not to send them back and 100% from July. Which is more than fair enough I think. It’s been 20% up until now. I suspect they don’t actually want everyone back on 1st June as they need time to adjust gradually so imposing full fees from then could backfire by encouraging everyone back in one go causing chaos.

Our nursery is only charging parents who are sending their children back, for the time being, as they need to keep numbers down. They have said that once they can operate at full capacity, full fees will be charged regardless of whether you send your child or not.

I have heard of a number of nurseries charging only 20% in these circumstances, particularly where parents have continued to make voluntary contributions of a percentage of fees as a retainer during lockdown (which of course they were under no contractual obligation to pay as no service was being provided).

My childminder (who operates like a small nursery as she has 2 assistants) has charged nothing up to now and will be charging 50% for June to keep the place open for those who don't want to send.

Not in London but South East. Our nursery aren't charging anything for June of you choose not to send child in and say they will review on a month by month basis. They've been great right from the start.

£10 per day they should be there - really generous given rates are approx £60 a day usually.

Our nursery have said they will know 15% off the invoices for may and June. How generous.

Haven't received an invoice yet though, and I'm not paying anything until I see one.

In Essex. Full fees from 1st June whether you send child back in or not. (We weren't charged anything for April and May though).

Ours is 80% of usual fee. Mine is going anyway but that’s what they will charge if you choose not to send them. Fair enough I think. We are not London but are a large city.

In east London - our nursery don't feel they are ready to open yet, they are waiting until July at the earliest. We are noot facing any fees.

20% (it was 25% for April/May), then 50% for July. 100% for all from August.
They are planning to credit us the retainers later in the year though.

It's been £50 per child per month for April/May and is 25% in June. Will be reviewed each month.

85% reduction for sessions not used for the time being (same as since they closed).
40% reduction on full sessions as hours have reduced from 8-6 to 9-3.

I'm envious. Our childminder has charged 100% throughout even though she was only providing care for one child (both parents are key workers). I still haven't heard if toddler ds can go back next week/sometime in June or not. She is waiting for advice from the Council. North West here, an area where reliable childcare is very hard to come by, and she has been lovely with ds in the past. I'm not sure if we can afford full fees all summer and beyond if he still can't attend...not that we have much choice I guess, if we want him to go back (eventually?!). Maybe she will negotiate the price if she can't take all the children back yet. I hope so.
