Do you believe the stories about people getting coronavirus having been in total isolation?

I keep hearing stories that are always about a friend of a friend so classic urban myth territory really that go something like 'my friend has got coronavirus and they and their partner were in total isolation for two weeks only taking in the supermarket delivery and post so they must have got it that way'.

I guess this is aibu really because aibu to think that this is very very unlikely and they or their partner must have been incubating it for a long time or have been out at some point?

Yes, but only because I know someone who it happened to.
Honestly, she only saw the delivery guys. Didnt leave the house, and lived alone. Got Corona a couple if weeks ago, so unless it incubated for 2 months, she got it from a delivery guy or something else (food, post) that came into the house.
I agree it's unlikely. But that doesnt mean impossible.

Unlikely yes impossible no ,
You could say I'm taking a risk going for my morning walk someone could attack me , it's unlikely but not impossible.
I could have a car accident on the way to the supermarket and so on .
I think you have just proven that even if we stay in you could still catch it but the risk is lower .

Contact with contaminated items isn't an urban myth. It's a very real way of transmitting the virus.

Yes but I still think if people are fully isolating no trips out at all they are surely the kind of people to also wash hands from taking in post before touching face etc. I bet in these cases there has been the odd trip out that has been forgotten about in the retelling.

I am going to go with the incubating for a long time theory. I can imagine that being variable but the vast majority of cases the same.

You can't make assumptions about every single person and how they deal with their deliveries. Also, it's so easy to touch your face in error.

Yes. Let's not let science get in the way of the truth Hmm
