Loads of areas have had days with no cases. Doesn't mean it's over but doesn't mean it's not true either.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 20/05/2020 17:10

I may be blindly optimistic but I have a feeling this whole thing might be over sooner than we expect.

Sweetpea84 · 20/05/2020 19:27

Yay great news for London! So if all those from seaside towns etc could kindly stay away we don’t want you here bringing it back. 😂😉

Sparklingbrook · 20/05/2020 19:28

I am starting to feel the same @Waxonwaxoff0 and i am a terrible 'cup half empty' person generally.

iamapixie · 20/05/2020 19:29

Yes, the figures for London have been on a downward trajectory for some time, hence hospitals opening slowly over the last couple of weeks for non-Covid stuff, thank goodness.

Bramblebear92 · 20/05/2020 19:49

Obviously low cases doesn't mean it's over by any means, but it's still a very good sign. Except for the fairly sizeable proportion of people on here who spend their days rubbing their hands with glee at the thought of cases getting higher/second wave/"just you wait a few weeks." Very strange mindset frankly.

moita · 20/05/2020 19:58

Very strange mindset frankly. Agree and terrifies people who are struggling mentally

Redolent · 20/05/2020 20:31

There are definitely people who really want things to get worse Smile but I won’t celebrate this news just yet.

Sparklingbrook · 20/05/2020 20:33

There's a middle ground. Thankfully.

The responses here show people really do only read the headlines!.... which is why it’s irresponsible. Further down the article says:

“Officials have played down the numbers, suggesting that they may be the result of a technical hitch known to have happened over the weekend, and explaining that they will rise in the coming days as more results come back. The number should not be interpreted to mean the epidemic is tailing off, they said.

The numbers also showed that only 79 cases were diagnosed across the whole of England - this, too, will inevitably rise in the coming days as more people who were swabbed on Monday test positive. A total of 2,412 people yesterday received positive results from samples taken between May 13 and 18.“

Numbers seem to be coming down, which is great - and this cant be over enough fast enough. London are doing particularly well looking at things like hospitalisation... but if people read this and think “it’s all over - great”... as some people will do, that risks undermining the whole thing.

Brisket. I can't be as optimistic to declare it's over. But the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter and closer. Smile

Sparklingbrook · 20/05/2020 22:46

Can we go for saying we are nearer the end of it than the beginning then? Too much?
