Has anyone with children at boarding school been told that they can go back ?

My child is at at a 6th form boarding school. They have advised us that they will do all they can to get the children back ASAP - if possible. We are awaiting an update. Just wondered what other parents with kids at boarding school have been told .

DD is at an international boarding school outside the UK. They have cancelled school for the rest of the academic year, but are making plans to get everyone back for the start of the autumn term (will most likely involve quarantine periods and so on).

Is your DC's school talking about getting them back after half term? That might work if most pupils are in the UK, but I can't imagine overseas students making it back unless they stayed with local home stay families while school was shut.

They have said that they are working on plans - most kids are in the UK and they will probably only bring back lower 6 so only about 100 kids in total - we’re just awaiting an update. DD is desperate to go back ,

My youngest, yr 13, UK music school, no. No news.

Will you have to forego exeats and visits?

Wilkolampshade · 20/05/2020 11:09

How do you mean @Didkdt? Do you mean if they go back, do they then stay isolated at school until the end of term?

GreyishDays · 20/05/2020 11:10

What country is it?

Alwaystwomagpies · 20/05/2020 11:13

Do you feel sad that your DD is desperate to go back?

Cousin is at a BS and they have said can go back but then no return home at all until
Summer is no weekend leave etc.

Why would I be sad that she wants to go back ?? She is missing her friends and her school ! I would not be concerned that there would be no exeats etc as they break up at the beginning of July. She is Y12 and the school is in the UK

Our boarding school emailed out this week and said they would update us with plans to bring nursery / reception / year 6 back - but boarding was def not on the cards yet.

They have said the kids can’t socially distance, and I guess as there’s a mix of day and boarding pupils it would bring the risk into the boarding house.

We are a UK school too btw.

DDs school is boarding only - no day pupils and only for sixth form
